Hi Forum Partner & I are away next Friday for this years pilgrimage. We've a week to get to Brno & a week to get back, sailing via Calais, planning to head south then to Brno, heading back home via the North. Our only route plans so far is a 2 day stop in Munich on the way Monday & Tuesday. Are there any must do rides / roads or any good experiences worth a visit heading to or coming back from Brno? We've previously enjoyed a small area of Southern Germany, a little Austria but nothing more North i.e. Poland etc. Any advice would be appreciated - Thanks
Dont laugh at this but google 'The Romantic road' in Germany for an option to get you towards Munich. You could also go to the real Disney castle which is not so far away. I like Austria and there is the Sylveretta pass as you head East. Let me have a look at book / map for some ideas to help although never got that far over - its bloody miles! The Hartz mountains in northern Germany are meant to be very good and worth a visit perhaps on your way back
Went to Prague on the bikes in May. Decent run, went from NW England, France, Belgium, Germany, then into Czech Rep. Via Düsseldorf, Leipzig etc..It's not that far.... We did it in 10 days inc. return home and 2 days in Amsterdam... Hammered it past France and Belgium, but leisurely although fast run to Prague. Stopovers where: Calais Düsseldorf Leipzig Prague Leipzig again Hannover Amsterdam, than took the boat to hull. All in all 10 days, and fabulous. Beware if dicking around in the Czech Republic, we got In trouble with cops with plenty of guns, and got a right bollocking and had to pay a fine. If you don't have cash on you, they take you to a cash point.
Thank you both gents - I shall take a good look at your suggested options with interest. Czech advise appreciated! Cheers
Thanks Alaska We did the B500 last year enroute to San Marino, awesome Will definitely consider it if the weather is kind and it fits with our miles Now considering a visit to Budapest before arriving to Brno, a little unsure on Slovakia tho, being so close to Bratislava. Im sure its lovely but Ive had the fear put in me by someone who tells me its all still a little bandit country with Mr & Mrs wifey stranded alone roadside! Any comments anyone please? Thanks again
Budapest well worth a visit, the last time we went to Brno we had to buy a vignette (temporary tax disc) at the border. Also from the bike park buses take you up to the circuit but you have to walk back which in bike boots can be a bit of a trek.
She's all ready. One Mr, one Mrs (to be in October) Two blades.... Calais. 2 nights Munich. Austria. Budapest. 3 nights Brno MotoGP. Home via who knows. Thanks guys, hope to keep you posted
