Motorcycle Helmets ( Import ) are exempt from VAT in the UK as per VAT Notice 701/23

    Do retailers charge VAT on motorcycle helmets? I'm not sure they do

    Crash helmets intended for the UK market and therefore BS6658-85, EC22./05 or the new EC22/06 standard are and always have been zero rated (exempt) for VAT because it is compulsory protective headwear.
