I only really seem to have this issue in my home town but it's really starting to piss me off! The high street in my town typically has parked cars on one side for the majority of it, meaning (depending on which way you are travelling) you have to give way. So today in the same spot it happened last time I had to give way to 4 cars as they pulled out to pass the parked cars on THEIR side After allowing these to pass I took my right of way only to have some silly lass in an audi a3 pull out and force me to the kerb and as usual the sheep followed! *Sheep meaning other daft motorists... I just don't understand why when people see a motorcyclist they think they have the right to invade their space and force them to the gutters just because they take up less space on the road! Bearing in mind this road is narrow. I actually had one incident not too long ago when the same happened with a pensioner and she waved her arm at me to get out the way as she barraged her way through Sorry to rant, just wondered if anyone can share similar views on this matter and make me feel a little better about it?
Yep, theres a similar street in my town. The most aannoying aspect is that you can be following a car through, and the car waiting pulls out once the car has passed, as though I don't exist. I've tried puffing up, making myself look big, and not giving ground... usually works but it's a high-risk strategy. Sooner or later I'm going to be forced to smack off someone's wing mirror!

DOUBLE POST... AGAIN... THIS FORUM IS FALLING APART!
You should have taken their number plate as what they have done is actually classed as attempted assault in the fact that they have driven their car at you forcing you to avoid them
Another good reason to have a camera on the bike Graeme, if it's happening repeatedly, then film it and you've got evidence of dangerous driving; I've started recording my commutes for the same reason, fed up of having numpties try to kill me and need the proof to be able to do something about it. Dangerous driving includes situations where the driver has of his or her own free will adopted a particular way of driving, and also where there is a substantial error of judgement, that, even if only for a short time, amounts to driving falling far below the required standard. If the driving that caused the danger was taken as a deliberate decision, this would be an aggravating feature of the offence. Incidents could include failing to have a proper and safe regard for vulnerable road users such as cyclists, motorcyclists, horse riders, the elderly and pedestrians or when in the vicinity of a pedestrian crossing, hospital or school. Separately though, do you know if Police Scotland run a driver warning scheme? GMP do a program called Op Modify, where they write to drivers who've been reported to them as twats, (I'm paraphrasing) but for whom they don't have sufficient evidence to launch a prosecution or other action. The registered keeper gets a letter saying "your car was reported as being driven by a twat in contravention of whatever bit of driving law applies, watch yourself!" Reg gets held on system in case it pops up again. Might be worth emailing your local roads policing unit and asking what you can do in view of the danger of a collision occurring whilst you are adhering to the law like a nice person.
If it is safe to do so just stop in the road and force them to reverse, but remember it is better to be alive than right and hurt. Of course if your armoured elbow/glove happened to catch their expensive wing mirror and cause expensive damage it would be a real shame
Just to add that Plod would be interested in video of people doing things like this. Can't say too much at this stage but the wife was visited yesterday to give a statement and a copy of a video from her car cameras. The accident investigation person who took is was very clear that he would be recommending prosecution based upon the content of the video, even though there was no accident. He said that they were seeing a lot more video evidence these days, and that they would have to adapt to make best use of it.
I feel slightly better about it that others have the same view and suffer the same problem. I do normally have my gopro on but on this occasion i didn't because both my batterys for it were dead otherwise i would be more than happy to share the footage with the police. Pete i think they do have something similiar but i'll maybe have to look into that for future. In this case i never got the registration in time though so wouldn't be able to do much anyway. I sympathize with you guys that regulary commute in built up areas, must be a nightmare!
I missed the plate on this occasion mate but next time hopefully will have the gopro rolling to catch them in the act!
On several occaisions going home from work in the morning i have had drivers trying to squeeze me against the kerb to pass a parked car on their side of road,it's always the same strret within a minute of my house. I am usually prepared for it and just come to a stop and either let them reverse or they have to fit into a tiny gap to let me pass. Once a women tried to squeeze thruShorty brake levers,R&G bar ends, wing mirror
Same thing with me, same spot every time and also only few minutes down the road. Hopefully it was an expensive mirror to fix
Sadly the blades bars aren't at the right height or angle to give mirrors a proper dunt, but she got the message, think she'll give bikes more room in the future
We have a few down here that clearly hates bikes. One particular Volvo XC90 squeezed past both of us riders behind a car.The woman passenger gave me a dirty look. The Volvo was still in front and washed his windscreen and us while the husband was watching in his rearview mirror laughing. We got washed 3 times behind him.I was talking with Ashley through our G4's, we decided to back off and moved into the inside lane.We filtered past a couple of minutes later. The woman in the passenger seat got a fright cos Ashley took her mirror straight off as we were pulling away. Bruised his arm doing it though. The #****#$**** coming out of his mouth whilst riding on cos the mirror hurt him but worth it.
Like most London riders, mirror removal had been a way of life for the last 35 years...but no more for me Last year a cocky tool in a van deliberately blocked me by squeezing me into the kerb, did the usual, punched the mirror, which was frame type of affair, and it did not give an inch, sum result was a fractured knuckle. Now just tend to leave a more permanent impression on their pride and joy as a reminder of their inconsiderate driving.
You guys need to wear Knox Handroids! This is the Glove of choice for 'Fighting' with Wing Mirrors etc!
