Bough in August 2008 and been slowly building it up with bits here and there. PVM's are off the bike currently and are going back to Germany for a re-spray and I fitted some Ohlins R+T forks yesterday. I'm going to change the braided hoses for HEL ones shortly as I don't like the current ones fitted. Other than that, I'm pretty much finished with the bike for now. I'll update the photo's once it's back to it's 'normal' self.
LOVELY, re the ohlins, are they stock or uprated, as you might find them slightly worse than the modded ones you currently have!
At a guess, they'll be stock inners. They have just come back from PLR (Ireland's (North and South) sole importer for Ohline products) and I'll be bringing the bike to Phillip McCallen to get it set-up and see what he thinks (McCallen was a 4 time race winner at the IoM TT, so I hope he knows what he's at LOL)
big phil sure does know what he is doing. its quite surprising the comments about stock ohlins R&T forks though!
I know what you mean. A few have said about ditching the stock insides for superbike internals. A mate has John Burrow's (another road racer) forks in his K9 so I might see about getting a run on his and see how different they feel.
Got the latest bits today. I never fancied putting the standard black calipers on the gold forks and gold wheels so say hello to a set of brand new, never fitted, 2011 monoblocks from the Repsol Fireblade. I'm still waiting to get a carbon fender, a spacer for the forks and new bolts. I hope it's all going to go together for about April/May and I hope I've a new exhaust by then. The one I was looking at getting has gone :-(
Finally got the forks fitted. Still need to get the calipers fitted and new lines ordered. The wheels are still in Germany and not yet painted and still on the look-out for a new system. Nearly there,
The only way I can descirbe them is 'plush'. Soak up the road bumps but react quick enough when you need them too. I've been told that the SBK internals are even better again, but I simply can't afford to put them into the bike (for now anyway) A mate has an 07 1000RR with the same forks and SBK internals so I might try and get a ride on his and see if it's worth the extra.
not the bobbins the one that is at the back of the swing arm, or is that a different type of bracket for different paddock stands
Got it in one, it's a Gilles paddock stand lifter, kinda similar to the factory lifters on kit swingarms.
