Hey Guys n Gals (Welcome back to the fold N.T),

Anyhoo my Blade is feeling a bit rough at the moment! Hesitant to start especially if I restart her when she's hot! A bit erratic either reving hard then back to norm or like she's gonna die on me! She takes more turns to start in the morning but just a general roughness while riding too!

I phoned Honda thinkin she might just a new set of plugs but was told plugs should last 32k so unlikey to be that!
But I wasn't sure if having a can, PCV and K&N air filter with switchable maps could maybe foul the plugs! I've tried injection cleaner in the tank but to no avail!

Any idea guys? Has anyone experienced similar?
Any suggestions will be gratefully received!
    Cheers
    Trev.

I'd check for any error codes - the ECU will blink them out for you on the dash if you short the green and the brown wires in the service plug under the seat with a paper clip - check the service manual for further details. If no faults recorded then I'd put a new air filter in, fully charge the battery, put fresh petrol in and if the problem persist I'd go after the plugs - they might reveal the problem to you - if they're soothed then the mixture is too rich, if they're wet then the oil is getting past the rings, etc. Mind you the plugs can be fouled at any mileage! They are a 2 hrs job to get to as you need to remove the air box and the side fairings. Another thing to check while you're down there is the IACV (Intake Air Control valve) that lets the air in when the throttle bodies are closed, i.e. during idling. The valve can get stuck closed resulting in too rich mixture = soothed plugs = difficulty to ignite the fuel. If you remove the IACV to check it rotates then do the ECU reset by starting the engine and letting it idle without touching the throttle until the fan kicks in.

Unplug the PCV and see if the problem is still there, I had issues with one after a few months. but I lost all power, then bike wouldnt start up.

It just takes it out of the scenario and doesnt take too long if you just lift the tank as I remember, I had to disconect it in the car park at cadwell inbetween sessions :(

I'd unplug the PCV first mate. I've heard a few problems like yours that have been narrowed down to this.

That's just it Trev, you've left her out in the cold. You need to bring her back indoors to warm up. The same happened to my neighbours dog when they left it out in the cold last year. Unfortunately that's not my neighbour in the photo too

Seriously though, check for any areas of condensation in the electricals (HT, plugs, PCV etc)
