well,i know it's not a blade, although it does have a couple of honda parts, but the time has come after 3 yrs or so to rebuild my project bike.

    bit of info about it.

    it's a 1992 (?) yam FZR400 with a modified frame to take a thundercat 600 engine.
    programmable CDI unit
    fc carbs,fucking awesome things these.
    r6 rear shock,with special linkage
kwaka zxr400 front end with ktec internals
    sp1 calipers
    special made ss full system.

crashed and stripped it down over 3 yrs ago,not got a clue how it all goes back together, just hoping it will all come back to me as i go along :D

this is how it looked prior to (actually several) the crash.

dont worry, will keep it updated as i go along, but tbh most of the work has already been done, this will be a "can i remember how it all goes back together thread..."

oh and forgot,it's a very trick RAm air system.a 1 off air box that uses the bottom of the tank as it's lid.

you need to remember this bike is alnost 25yrs old,and is still putting out over 100 BHP (got another motor that will push it over 110,but fitting it will need some frame mods, and i just cant be arsed to do that).

i reckon even matt will struggle to ride this bad boy :)

My Mrs had a FZR250RR, what a thing, red line at 18500:D and the noise was superb. Also light as a feather. Good luck with the build.

took front end apart and gave a good clean+check over.
going to steam clean/degrease the engine today and put back into the frame, might even gewt it fired up at some point.bit unsure if i'll need to rebuild the carbs as they have been sat for 3 yrs, look ok inside,no gunk so hopefully they will be fine.

reet then, spent an hr or so in the garage.gave the engine a bit of a clean (not that you can tell )and then fitted into frame,it's suprising how you remember little things,as there are spacers that need to go inbetween the frame+engine to mount it,luckily i saw these "things" in the boxof bits and something pinged in my head :).

so engine in,it's a lot easier putting in on your own than a blade engine i can tell you!!!.

straightened rear sets, getting the subframe welded up to repair as we speak.

will put pics up in a bit.

still got to repair a patch on the air box, work out what i took off the engine to mate up with the other one, this will be a bit tricky, fit and fettle the carbs, repair, respray body work.

everything else is just fitting back on (all being well).so may have a running bike in couple of weeks if i pull my finger out :)

Best to get the carbs cleaned up. Least you'll know they will be spot on when in the bike.

So what bike are you taking to donny on the 25th sept?

this bike wont like donny,it's far too fast+flowing for a big lad on 100bhp :)

guess i'll just have to make do with the beemer :)

as for the carbs, the bike will need to get set up again as i think it needed the next stage jetting after riding it last time,so will wait till then, and if they need stripping, well, they can do it :)

best thing is,nobody would ever know it's a 600,looks wise it's identical to the 400 apart from a couple of frame mounts.:)
