Hello. Just acquired my 4th Fireblade, a 2010 ABS model, one of the Farnham Honda carbon black limited edition jobs c/w Yoshimura, Gilles, ASV etc etc.

Still got my 954 (will be selling soon), used to have an RR8 (was stolen) and had a 929 years ago.

A few questions which i would welcome input on, have searched the database and cant find answers so here i go:

I'd like to move the Honda Averto alarm from under the pillion seat to somewhere else so I can fit a decent chain lock under the seat (would quite like not to have this one stolen) - any ideas where else it will fit; inside the fairing somewhere perhaps??

Having ridden a 954 for the last year I have gone a bit soft and got quite accustomed to a particularly spacious riding position, I've got my Gilles rearsets on their lowest position (which on first inspection seems to be about the same as standard rearset height) but its still a bit cramped in the knees, don't suppose there is a taller seat that I could fit to ease the squeeze? Don't really want to lower the pegs for fear of touching down when the weather clears up.

What's the consensus on tyre pressures for cold miserable London roads? Am running 34F 38R at the moment.

Anybody know a good suspension setup outfit in central london / Kent; would like to get it set up for me properly.

FYI I'm a year-round rider, use the bike for absolutely everything; commuting, weekends, touring, track days the lot!

    Cheers
    Andy

Welcome to the forum, Pics Please.

I run the same tyre pressures you have there on my rr4 with Michelin Power Pures 2ct's.

    Welcome Home!!!

    IMO, Cold miserable days, 36R...

I slipped out my rear end on a cold dry road, 2 degrees, going 25 mph because my rear was at 40R (I was tryin a ting... never again!!)

If you want me to help you set the sag and damping for your weight I'll help you unless you really want professional set-up... I am in South London.

Hi Andy welcome to the forum mate. My opinion on tyre pressures is stick to manufacturers recommendations ie. 36 and 42. They know what they're talking about....we don't. Just done a trackday at Oulton Park and first thing I did was go see the resident tyre boys for best pressures. They gave me 36 and 36 which shocked the hell out of me, bearing in mind the tyres were Rosso Corsas. Anyway as said they know best. Came in after a few sessions and tyres were showing textbook "orange peel" when all around me had serious issues with cold tearing. So what I'm saying is always listen to the experts.....they really do know best!

Welcome - good to see another 'Use my blade for everything' rider -

Lots here do trips / tours etc - we have an epic Scotland trip planned for May plus others do track days etc.

No idea on the alarm - how about a small tailpack to keep the lock in? I have a tiny (now discontinued) Oxford one which is perfect for that type of thing or a day on bike where you want to put camera, bottle water etc.

What about going for a lithium battery and then use the space you'll gain to fit the alarm into!!

Thanks for the responses everybody. I'm going to try some standard footpegs out, research suggests that my Gilles ones are 25mm higher than standard in their lowest position. Am looking on eBay now. Does anybody know whether i need to find ABS specific fitment or are they the same for both bikes?

Hi and welcome fella. Just had PR3's fitted to the bike and the fitter said 36 front 42 back, sounds good to me.

Hello an welcome to the forum!

Regarding the seat you could always get it re-foamed with some extra foam in it :)

Welcome to the forum.Lucky you for using it as a commuter bike too.Not been on mine for a month now:(
I normally use a disc lock when I'm out n about.Like you I don't want mine nicked so I park it if possible where I can see it.Not sure on a heavy chain in the rear compartment,I would carry one in a rucksack.

I had my new Bikes seat stripped and fitted with an inch thicker than standard comfort foam and then recovered in a lovely stippled effect grippy covering by a guy recommended on here who lives up Scotland way.

Cost £45 + P&P and is better than the genuine Honda item which retails at £235!

Not a close up I know but this is it.

I actually bought a new secondhand seat of ebay and sent that straight to him as I didn't actually own my bike at this point being February.
This is a picture of the two side by side.
