ZZR1400. Went to see about one today, and had a p/x value against the blade. I really want one, mainly because of the touring we do, and the long rides...we very rarely do short blasts anymore. They seem to be good for everything... and are comfy as. So, i had mine appraised against one today. Mine is 2011, 23,000 miles, serviced every 2k miles with new oil, filters and brake fluid. It's mint bar a small mark on the tank. Very well looked after. The value they offered is......£4k!! the guy said it's low because of the high mileage mine has.... bikes are supposed to be ridden, right? He said they will throw in some trick cans on in the price £11,700 as i think the standard ones are rank. Don't know what to do, there's a new ZZR1400 coming, so the current one maybe heavily discounted, or i may go for a mint year old one ( visited Bill Smiths, they had a 2012, 2,100 miles for £8k)..
Those as BIG beauty's those things. We spoke to a guy when we were on tour in Spain during a stop off at a scenic spot. They do look good. I would however be a bit set back until I could have a proper ride on 1, as I don't think the handling would be as good as I would like. I may be wrong though, but definitely something I would check out first. Also on a side note, have you tried they SX1000 (I think that's what it's called)?
Handling equal to the Blade !Power is of course awesome ,The 2013/14 was updated so I don't think it's worth waiting for how do I know ? Because I bought a brand new one from Millenium . I had an hour on one and loved the comfort / Handling " very light" and power ,you are king of the hill but...... After a long ride I was broken in bits it's as though you are sat to low and then have to reach for the bars which puts strain on the lower back . Cashed it in with 1800 miles for a new Blade and no backache so well worth investigating prior to liftoff.
I wouldn't have a green one but love those machines! great for Euro blasting and big flowing roads.... wouldn't fancy too many hairpin mountain roads on one though? for £4k trade, is it too much to ask to keep the blade as well? i'd be tempted to keep it mate..... for the odd sprint ride and track day?? As Col said, if ya tempted, get one out for a full morning and much some miles, see what you think. and yes - cans have to go!!!!
I tried one of these alongside a Haybusa and preferred the Kwak to the Busa for comfort. But she's a big old bird and those cans belong in a brass band rather than on a bike! In the end I got neither and bought a 'Blade
Jimbo, nope, it's either one or the other. I like my holidays too much, so if one bike goes, then it's another memory made somewhere in the world. The crux of the matter is though, the Blade is worth more than £4k to me... and after all, it's still new in my eyes. That's one helluva hit.
Sell it private for 5k plus do a deal for cash ? They won't want a high mileage sports bike at end of season plus unfortunately there are to many riders out there that do f all mileage so apparently 23000 miles is massive .... We all know it isn't but what can you do when there are 4 year old bikes with less than 1000 miles on them ?
My Brother-in-Law bought a 14 Plate one of those from DK in Stoke-on-Trent 4 months back. He keeps asking me to have a go so he can try out the Blade but so far it's just not happened although I'm keen to see how quick it is in a straight line compared to the Blade. He does wish he'd bought the Performance edition as he too now wants rid of the OEM Cans and a Full Akra for this bike is £1850! 2014 Kawasaki ZZR1400 Performance Edition, | eBay
Could you get any more in a private sale? Having known both you and the bike it looks like it only has 4k on the clock so might be worth a punt or try to get an extra grand off the Kwak! I put yoshimura cans on mine as the standard are like torpedoes. You have to buy the bike for its function and not the looks . It is a big old beast and I tried to convince myself it looked like a sports bike by adding race screen ,cans, seat cowl ,Fail! But if you buy it for what it is then your nearly there . Not being negative because that's not my style but also beware .when pushing it around either out of the garage or at a petrol station it's very very easy to lose it .i nearly did three times. Ps at the traffic lights it doesn't matter at all what comes along side you ,you sit there so smug it's a crime it takes off but just goes ,no jumping about out of control just sheer pure bye bye power .
Fair shout mate but as said you'd get a lot more for it private and you could also maximise the value if you stripped some of the nice bits off it?
I also went to have a look at one of those early last week after my near total body failure after riding the Panigale to the Midlands and back. I didn't ask about a px as I would be keeping the Ducati for play days and short blasts. It's a big old bird and whilst it felt like it would be very comfy and certainly more than able of safely take L pillion, it did seem quite a reach to the bars. I also agree that the cans are minging and would have to go. The other thing I noticed was how plastic the plastic felt, if you know what I mean. I was offered their demo bike to try for a day which at some point I will take them up on. It was also confirmed that an attractive cash deal could be had including getting rid of the OE cans. Whilst I was there I also had a good look at the demo bike outside and was surprised to see how scratched it was, either the body work is very soft or that bike has just been misused. I also noticed a fair bit of rust around some of the bolts etc, so it also doesn't like being left out in the rain, which is not a problem for me but for someone who would ride in all weathers it's a bit of a concern. Dispute the above it still feels like a cracking bike if you are looking for comfort, two up and banging a few miles out. I haven't discounted it yet.
I didn't find it heavy at all.. the centre of gravity is low in comparison to the Blade. I'll book a few hrs test ride next week and give it the bifters.
Mates just bought a busa. He certainly doesn't have any issues with its handling, was grounding the pegs out before the first service. I prefer these, nice bike mate.
My mate has a 2014, he had a PC fitted and Quickshifter, full Akra and a custom map, made near 200bhp on the dyno, he said take it out, I was not keen as the size looks intimidating and I am only a wee lad anyhow, went out for a good blast, FU£K me it can go like a missile! The engine is sooooooooo smoooooth it's unreal, tbh. I loved it, easy to ride, great aerodynamics gear box is like butter, I loved it! I am use to my XJR and she is a lump but the ZZR is like a limo, I defo can eat up some serious miles, if I were touring I'd be keen but I'd also take a look at the FJR... power screen and so on unlike the ZZR.. great bike...
