Looking for some cheap and cheerful brake and clutch levers for my MY14 blade. Been looking for a bit and seen these on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/MZS-Adjust...497370074&sr=1-2&keywords=fireblade+2014&th=1 They look different enough to be interesting and the price seems ok. Anyone had any experience of MZS? looked at website and its very "Chinese" in it wording!
I got a set of these on eBay 201749991843. Not the usual Pazzo copies. There are cheaper versions of the same on eBay, but I was in a hurry for them! Fit, work and feel much better than the Pazzo copies!
I am an engineer and bought some £15 pound ones in gold, first thing i do with anything i buy is check it works like the original cheap or expensive, mine did not work the brake switch as it should so had to add a bit on. but the quality is very good.I am more than happy with mine.As you would expect if you pay a fraction of the price quality control is not as good .
There's some things what you shouldn't risk to have on a motorcycle. You have a vehicle that can reach around 180 mph, and you place your trust in some knock-off levers, just because they're cheap? Your call...
As an engineer I checked my £15 levers, They were well machined, more than likely made in the same place as more expensive ones. If I valued my life that much I would not ride a bike
Nobody doubts your experience and quality engineering knowledge, but maybe you have just been lucky with the parts you received and also you are able to fix problems because of your knowledge. I assume, that most of the other riders can't do your job and if the brake fails because of cheap Chinese levers, your advice won't help. By the way: In most of the other "European Countries" those levers are not allowed to install and will fail the MOT / TUV etc. and will void the insurance. There must be a reason behind it, don't you think as well....
To me it is like a lot of things in life, firms charge big money for items on the strength of safety and quality. Most of the time these company's have had the component made in china in some sweat shop for pennies, they just add a lot to the price. If you are not capable of fully checking parts you fit, should you be doing the work, a badly fitted quality part also causes accidents. to me each to there own I buy some cheap things and some expensive things I just know to double check the cheap ones
As a user of both OEM and Chinese levers I have noticed no quality or performance difference between the two. I think also that major retailers - with credibility at stake - would not be stocking inferior products that had potential to cause injury to the public. What I would really love to see a performance and durability test between the two of the type where they are put in a press to test stress and breaking points. THAT would answer many questions. (Have Googled it but seems nothing's available) Would you (@Jez have the facility to do such a test if I supplied a Chinese and OEM lever?
I have TST levers on my Blade. They are made in a small shop in Florida here in the US. Quality pieces. Yes, they were more expensive than Chinese levers but I would rather spend the money on a quality piece than something questionable. It's all personal choice.
I had spazzo on my old r6 and gsxr600 before that, always felt alright and all I could afford at the time. My blade came with asv on it and tbh I can't tell the difference apart from the lettering lol. Not dropped or hit any of them tho. If I've got the cash I'd always buy branded brakes, but I have used cheapest in the past with no issue's. Must admit tho the range of adjustment on the asv is bigger than my old spazzo but that could change depending on Chinese brand
Why does he pull the brake He does not look fast enough and sounds like the engine has done the job of braking
