Ok, I know that everyone can have good and bad experiences with certain dealers so this is only to get an idea. I bought my blade from Dobles last year, but its a bit of a trek for servicing so I would like to find a good reliable local alternative. Has anyone got any experience or feedback on Essex Honda in Chelmsford as these seem to be my closest dealer. I did ring them for a quote on my 8000 mile service and was VERY surprised by the quote, so good that I felt the need to ask you knowledgable bunch? Thanks in advance peeps!
I've been using John Banks in Bury St Edmunds as that's where I bought my bike. Happy with them but it's hardly local. What were you quoted for the 8000 mile service as I need to book mine this week ?
I was quoted 1.5hrs labour £90 as I only just did a oil and filter change! Plus the cost of any parts needed (normally 2 hrs £120 with oil change). Seems good to me which is why I was after reassurance of work/quality.
my blade had not been back to Honda since I bought it. I take it to JHS racing which is local to me. good price's and servicing so always been happy. Why not get recommendations from independent places? No disrespect to my few local Honda dealers But I would rather take my bike to a place I know does a top job rather than to a Honda dealer I have not used or recommended if that makes sense
I've been there once before they were pretty quick to fit the broken valve in my tyre to the NSR i had at the time. If you dont want to go to main dealers, Race Engineering also do servicing in Dunmow. Everyone should know that under the Block Exemptions act you dont need your servicing done by a main dealer to keep their warranty active.
Not sure how close you are, but I used John's of Romford for a few services a while back and they seemed ok. Think they generally get good write-ups in MCN and that.
The idea is a good one but naming and shaming is not really the way to go unless the dealer can have their say as well if you get the idea.
I got my blade from Essex Honda. My mate has a VFR and he has used them for years and speaks highly of them. I found the guy in the workshop helpful. My bike will be going there for its next (2ND) service. Not sure exactly where you are but I have used these guys for years DC Buttler in bishops stortford & always been very happy with them it's just that having a brand new bike I'll stick with dealer servicing for a couple of years.
