Battery on my cbr1000rr 2010 abs has finally let me down. Need advice on a new one. I'm not going down the road of lithuim as its too expensive unless someone on here is selling one. I've researched and researched and research now I've seen too much. Can someone point me in the right direction of the correct battery that I need. I Need to tap into the brilliant expertise that's on here. Ytz10s lead filled or gel filled. Wrong polarity, right polarity. Terminals on the right or wrong side. Battery in sideways, upside down. Too small or too big. Works for abs or doesn't. Head fried
I know what you mean lol When my battery died on my abs after 2 years I looked at loads and the prices were about £80 for a decent standard battery. In the end I went for a Shido Lithium as it was only £120
I've always used Motobatt, you can change the terminals around to suit where you need them and there's no acid sloshing around in it. Worked faultless on my TL1000S for 6 years and they take some cranking!! http://www.motobatt.com/index.php?r...anufacturer_id=16&category_id=63&model_id=231
I bought a non ABS battery by mistake for my ABS bike, its a different size and the terminals are the wrong way round. They exchanged it for the right battery and it cost about £30 more at £80 ish it was from a Honda main dealer where I got the bike from. It was called something like YTS10S I'm away from the bike at the moment so can't check
I don't think you can pick the wrong fitting it you search under the part number you wrote. I changed mine a couple of months back and seriously considered lithium. Came to the conclusion that it was not suitable for me yet. The cold weather starting, the dedicated maintenance regime (they have very low Ah) and finally the cost (battery + yet another charger!). The original yuasa did not last as I expected but I later found out that the battery had been made ONE year before I bought the bike (new i.e). So whatever battery you buy, check the manufactured date as I doubt if one is 12 months old at the time of sale, has been charged regularly (as manufacturer keep telling us) while sitting on the shelf. I ended up with a yuasa replacement, 3 month old and 2 years guaranty. But aren't they all just so expensive compared to the size and power of the ones for cars!!
Motobatt are decent, popular with the v twin crowd due to CCA's they put out and usually competitively priced when compared to Yuasa, etc. Only thing I was told to watch out for was the screws coming loose on the terminals, but it's nothing an occasional tighten or some light thread lock can't sort.
I done the same. Motobatt Battery arrived it was for a none ABS model. Contacted seller to tell them as they advertised it for ABS model. Refund given and now the correct battery fitted. If anybody is interested Motobatt MBTZ10S is for ABS model and the MBTZ7S is for non ABS.
That is because the ABS Blades have a bigger alternator needed for all the added ABS sensors and control units.
