I'm trying to remove the muffler insert in my gp pro. I've undone the only bolt holding it in (that I can see) but it doesn't want to come out. I don't want to force it and damage something or scratch the housing using pliers. Please help as I should be out on it at the moment, not sat with it in pieces.
take the end can off and push a brush handle or something of the like in the "link pipe" end and knock it out.
Drew - I had the same problem after putting the baffle in for the first time. You will find there is a burr around the baffle that needs filing down - once you get it out. I put together a home made slide hammer from some threaded rod and a few nuts. I used a plug spanner for the dead weight and at the business end I attached a small loop of brake cable off a push bike. I unscrewed the bolt just enough to get the loop of cable around it then kept it tight and slid the plug spanner down the threaded rod. A couple of good blows loosened it enough to get it out. Now I've removed the burr from the baffle it goes in and out no problem. Good luck Steve
I'm not sure about your GP Pro, but i know on my last can i could just get 2 sets of mole grips on the baffle which gave a nice square two handed pull
thanks all for the replies, I managed to get it out after getting angry and just thinking sod it. I pulled the bleeder out with a set of mole grips. flattened one side of it but im using the other baffle anyway.
Did you take that burr of the second baffle? It makes it so much easier to remove in the future. I butchered the smaller bore baffle by sawing most of it off. Looking down the exhaust it looks like a baffle is fitted - stealth baffle LOL.
