Hi can anyone help got myself a new blade but having a lot of trouble with it keep stalling . First sports bike so not use to it yet but it needs about 3,000 rpm to pull off with is this normal .last bike I had was ducati diavel which you can pull off on idle tick over and the rest of my bikes I have had you can do the same . Hi and welcome to the forum. You say it's new, brand new? If it's not has it got a race can on it. This can make pulling away a tricky job without revving it too much. Also you gotta remember it has a pretty tall first gear.
Hi welcome, had similar experiences, the clutch is either in or out no real feathering, I don't like the clutch on my 2014 , but you do master it. Riding with spirit no problem, gentle round town notchie Not really helped any, persever my friend
Doesn't sound right to me. You should be able to pull the bike along in 1st just by riding the clutch at tickover.
Litre Sports Bikes are not designed to act like a Diesel Tourer. 1st gear is good for over a Ton and they do 180+ If you've been used to a Sports Tourer/Tourer/Naked then Sports Bikes do have their Torque curves higher up the Rev range. Once you've rung it's neck through 2nd, 3rd and 4th you'll forgive it this minor lack or Torque at low Revs for the 'Fuck me Stuuupid' feeling at higher Revs!
Hi chaps, let me explain, I've had sport bikes all my riding time, this 2014 clutch seems to fall in or fall out, no in between. With spirit ok, Sunday ride out in town a little notchie. I traded in a gsxr750 2012 , I was able to feather the drive train smoothly, tested the panigale and bmw 1000 , both similar to the gsxr. The blade clutch is slightly unique and may take more time to master. Overall enjoying the bike and may consider the SP model in the future, for the brembo brakes which I think are fantastic and reduced vibration within the chassis with the blue printed engine. My bike is used for every style of riding, Europe trip to Italy, Spain, etc Sunday scrape, Wednesday meet up gentle ride out. I'm no young kid but still have the passion for sports bikes.
Also, doesn't sound right to me. My 2010 Blade, my first sports bike bought in Feb, trundles along quite happily at walking pace in town traffic. The clutch can be easily feathered and the engine only needs to be revved a little above tickover.
If the byke has much power below 3000, without traccion control and with th is weight, it would be dangerouse to drive mainly in wet road and even in dry too. And this byke has a good meedle power comparing with others sport bykes.
Hi & Welcome . Having to use 3k rpm to pull off is not right. I have owned my blade for a couple of months and find I can pull off in first gear, with very little gas no problem without labouring the engine. If your bike is stock with no modifications, then as mentioned, you should be able to control the bike at walking pace without high revs.
All good points chaps, got me thinking, going to take identical bike out and sample clutch. Have a good relationship with hunts Manchester so should be ok, will keep you posted on results. Thanks for feedback. Has anyone fitted brembo calipers?
Mine is silky smooth pulling off even at next to no throttle, this was both absolutely standard and recently with r77, PCV and autotune. I do occasionally feel the clutch bite a little harder when pulling off.
Something isn't right as you should be able to pull away easily just above idle ... Mine will happily filter through traffic at 25mph in 2nd gear ... That's barely above idle. It does get snatchy under that speed but feathering the clutch sorts it.

tried a little adjustment of the cable ,also a spray down it with some tefhlon spray also helps make it slicker.
I found the 2014 clutch a little on or off. But also the throttle on off is not good . A power commander sorted it with extra fuel added and the bike is perfect
My 2015 blade...... the clutch was a little bit in or out, but the power commander and exhaust seem to have helped, or having done 1,600 miles may have helped bed the clutch in too. Engine seems to be a little rattly on cold start up, certainly more rattly than my old 2011 blade, but after a few seconds it's quiet and seems a little smother in the mid - high rpm range. Mentioned it during my first service at Chichester Honda, but they assured me that's normal. Seems to be getting quieter as I put more miles on it, so probably just the mechanical bits bedding in.
I think I'm going to stick a PCV on mine as a winter job, 2nd from a closed throttle at low speed is particularly abrupt. It reminds me of the injection on the 954, I stuck a PCIII on it with a stock map and it sorted it out.
I does make you think how a Power Commander and a remap, can make such an improvement to the throttle response........... Why can't a HUGE company like Honda get it right at the production stage.
