Totting up the BJ day monies and maybe a new pair of boots is in order.

Unofficially I think the consensus is leaning towards Supertech R's.

Is this the mood of the group?

Nope! Not for me.... Great boot and safe as your going to get. Slight pain on and off with the inner boot thingy.... And my bro in laws just broke his (ratchet strap pulled off) after 2 years / 5k miles.

Not the best for a top end boot IMO.

I'll be getting the smx plus gortex next.... Sporty enough for track, waterproof, comfy, easy on and I reckon my current 5 year prob 70k boots are brilliant value for money....still fine apart from soles have warn through though as I have a habit of dragging my feet to feel road surface. Lol

Had a set of pumas - looked amazing, plastic bit on back broke and liner crumpled after 9 days on tours... Threw them in the bin after that!!

Would never buy sidi after seeing a pair come off a mates feet on impact (vertigo I think they were called)....

But that's just my opinion / experience of course. ;)

I have the SMX gore tex and supertech r boots I mostly wear the SMX as they are comfy and keep my feet dry when I get caught out :)

Both are good so you can't go wrong with either

Fabulous boots but can't really justify a price tag of around £800!!

Wearing these at the moment on blade, TCX RS2's, once I'd given the articulated bits a dose of shredder oil to remove the squeak they're really comfy and quiet! Had always worn Alpinestars before but these feel every bit as solid and well made without the grief of an inner boot.

Kenneth I have the same boots as Sinewave (Sidi) and I swear by them, so comfy and protective and mine are 2yrs old and have had 2 slides down the road, one at 70mph and they haven't broken or had any issues to this day! Granted as Jimbo said I couldn't sneak up on you at all but then I don't mind the odd bit of attention.

I think the buckle system is great and other than that one time when I first got them and managed to hook the bike into gear and rodeo at a car while showing my friend my new bike I've not had any issues since.

So to now match my black and white leathers I'm getting a pair of sidi vortice air boots for Christmas which have even more buckles :D

Supertech R's mega comfy, not very waterproof at all

Only downside I find was when I got hit on the top of my foot in a freak accident on M25 by object unknown - there was zero protection so I have suffered / struggled with a broken metatarsal / foot for the last 14 months.

Have now invested in a £16 paid of HELD overboots to keep my feet dry if away

SMX+ in Goretex were also considered

I did see these in SP and liked the look of them, but nobody I spoke to knew much about them. What's the off bike comfort like on them Pete?

The comfort bit is really important for me, but would be concerned if its at the sacrifice of protection.

Ken I think you should invest in a pair of thigh waders, it'll be rainy season soon and you can wear them in the garden.

oh forgot to say the boots I have now are the sidi vertigo carbon race,
none of the adjusters or straps have broken and I have cartwheeled
down the road with them, I am getting the vortice next as after four
years the sole has worn out where as the rest of the boot is still like new.
and they are comfortable enough to wear for a night out in the paddock bar.
