Had a visit to a bike showroom today and was pleasantly surprised with an offer.
It was for a new 675R, they offered me £6500 for my RR9 blade. Tempting as it was I'm not sure I could cope with the loss of grunt. The 675R weighs 198kg compared to RR9's 199kg and is 50ish bhp down. Disappointing thing was, no demo, no test ride. But boy it did look nice!!
Anyone got one in Cumbria ???????

Sure they weigh the same? 675 is tiny compared to most bikes? Let alone a 1000cc?

I stand corrected, according to the Triumph web site the weight of the 675R is 189kgs so 10kgs less than the RR9. Like you I thought the 675R would have been even less.

No i thought both the standard and r would have been way more than 10kg less tbh.

They certainly don't struggle on track against a bigger 1000cc bike tbh.... Always right up there on the times. Awesome bike IMO.

Blade is 200kg kerb weight... That's wet right?

    Against 189kg wet for 675....

11kg a lot but thought it'd be a bigger diff tbh.

Taking the stock cans off my STr is 6kg!?

The 675R they offered me has Arrow can on it so that probably saves 4kgs, decisions decisions

The r1 and r6 are same weights... 188 vs 199 but the 600's always feel so much more nimble....

Still wouldn't be put off, would have a 675 tomorrow.... Think when it comes to us mortals, we are the limiting factor on the road, not bhp tbh

that's gives the blade a much better power to weight then, must admit though they were lighter :(

The 675 is an awesome bike. The R just make.s it better. I took one for an whole afte.rnoon test ride. Fantastic. Only issue for me was that the riding position is a bit too focused. I ached all over! The Fireblade is a little more relaxed.
Do make sure you have test ride before committing to it.

My friend has a 675 and it really is a cracking bike. Ultra smooth, great brakes and very nimble. Very unique noise as well with the arrow can fitted and triumphs own quickshifter is very good. As a track bike is have one in a second but it's almost to good for the road. Thibk is get bored with how easyily it does everything you'd miss the bit of excitement you get with the blade.

2008 onwards blade is 199 kg kerb weight which is wet weight, it's not difficult to lose 10kgs of the blades weight as stock end can weights 6kgs compared to 1-2 kg for aftermarket, lithium battery loses another 1.5kg

But you could do the same with the daytona, which is a great looking bike but think I would miss the extra power

It depends on how U wana ride it imho!

My mate has a 675R for Track use and it goes well with it's standard fit Ohlins and Brembo kit.
Mr Rutter can hustle one round Mallory pretty much in the same time as a standard ZX10R, so if U are prepared to work it then it's a joy!

    However............................

On the road the missing 50bhp and Torque will make it a far more tiresome road tool and one that may become less appealing if using for weekend rides out over a lazy litre bikes awesome roll on power.

But the flip side SW is getting the most out of the bike and using all available... And the fun of showing a 'big bike' the way on the under dog....

I find that quite rewarding tbh instead of riding a 1000cc like a big twist and go....
