New GoPro Hero 4 launched!

    Well bugger me with a splintered fence post, they've only gone and released some new GoPro cameras! :eek:

    GoPro's Hero4 cameras offer 30 fps 4K shooting or touchscreen controls

    The new Hero 4 Black will now shoot in 4K and both Silver and Black have a few new modes - including one for low light.

    AND - there's a new cheap version just called Hero (confusing much?) and it's only gonna cost £99! They go on sale this weekend :)

    Looks a great bit of kit.
    Used a mates black +3 a bit back.
    If this does what what it says on the tin?
    Then Spielberg had better move over.

    Was rumoured release date 2015.
    Pleased to see it pre that word I won't use until December.
    Gives Mrsb a much easier time choosing.

    Yeah - I've mentioned it to my missus tonight. Who previously complained she never knows what to buy me and then complained tonight when I told her... :rolleyes:

    I see they have finally succumb to putting a touchscreen onto the black version for real time viewing

    I wonder what effect that will have on battery life ? Looking at the state of the battery meter in the picture probably says it all

    stunning and I knew they were coming out soon as I've been keeping a eye on it as I want to replace my Go Pro 1 with one for Christmas.

    I can't see the point in using 4k myself as I have only a HD TV. Anyone using 4k on the 3 found it to be worth the extra use of memory ?

    I have the screen I can add to my Go pro 1 and it halfs the life of my battery. is this a add on or comes with the camera. If you can stream to a mobile I can't see the point in having a built in screen

    No agree screen is a waste of time imo. The 99 quid one looks interesting but seems the battery is non removable so when it's spent you can't put another in

    I would guess that you set a timeout on the screen so that it switches off after xx seconds. Screens do help when setting up so you can see if it is level etc. Personally I would prefer one over having to use a mobile etc. Academic though as I can't justify one at the moment, but hopefully there will be some cheap 3s in the new year ;)

    Argos have already slashed £80 off the Hero 3+ Silver... :)

    Not sure how it compares spec wise to these new ones tho...

    I have nowhere to watch 4K anyway.. I cannot express my excitement because there is none.

    1080p will do for now.

    I've just ordered the £99 cheap one - the Hero. I'll post an update with initial thoughts once it arrives :)

    Keep us posted MadMac on the £99 one! Steve thats what I have planned matey, defo need multiple camera angles now without having to fake it lol

    But new EP has drone footage from the skies of me riding so what more can you ask for :)

    I've bought a few mounts and things from them in the past - good service so far. Just had an email from them to say my GoPro 4 Hero has been shipped :)
