Never used a sun visor and to be honest I've never particularly liked the idea. For a long time I did use a standard clear visor with a tinted pinlock insert and that worked really well. Had the added bonus of being able to just pull over and pop the insert out when it got darker.
Hi Gray I was seriously toying with the idea of new helmet with built in sun visor, a Shoei GT Air. Lovely lid, very comfy, but I found the division of view between dark drop down visor and lower peripheral vision a bit off putting. I'm sure you'd get used to it though. I know a few of the lads on here have the GT Air, I'm sure you'll get some reviews from them. Cheers Mike
Yeah I've got the GT Air, it's a great helmet, well designed and comfortable. I wouldn't be without the drop down sun visor, so much better than wearing sun glasses.
Hi Gray I wore a Caberg VR2 for a couple of years and it was great! The drop down tinted visor was definitely handy and really good and I still wear it in the winter months but I much prefer my Shark RSR 2 with dark tint visor! The drop down tinted has a habit of misting up but definitely cool and way better than wearing shades under you lid
I keep leaving my XR100 with a dark visor in favor for my Scorpion EXO1000, the drop down visor works a treat. I do swap from dark to clear visors depending on time of rides etc with the Scorpion but on proper bright days dark visor and drop down is useful. Go to a dealer and try a few makes...
I've got a Schuberth with a drop down sun visor. It works OK but I've found the tint not dark enough on really bright days also the internal visor seems to fog up a bit like the inside of a car windscreen that has not been cleaned for a while. On a damp cold day it condensates not like the main visor which has a pin lock fitted.
