went hunting my insurance & MOT docs today and found both expired end of September.. lucky I haven't had the bike out then! Phoned up MCE for the renewal as they hadn't sent me a renewal quote (and told today they don't.. just a reminder and they don't auto renew). I declared most of the major mods to the bike that I could remember (they were only interested in major ones) - all in £212 (£12 cheaper than last year - Bonus!) and that was also declaring 2 x non-fault accidents in the wife car earlier this year!
Doesn't matter what you declare as they won't pay out on them if it's nicked or totalled. All they is interested in is anything that makes a power gain of over 5% . Told me when I fitted the akrapovic , no extra charge on the premium but they'll only pay out for the price of a standard exhaust if the bike gets crashed etc. be warned
I'll give them a try when my renewal comes along,H&R been good so far but want 25% just for the quick shifter, and as already mentioned they won't pay out on it.
Don't think people realise when your declaring what extras you put on your bike people are assuming they'll get paid out for them extras if the worst should happen. But it ain't the case. All that will happen is if it's summat giving a big power gain they'll load your premium
All Carbon fairings, brembo front rear calipers, Brembo MC (both), dash, exhaust, Qs, power commander, suspension front and rear, carbon wheels..
I know insurance companies are dodgers for sure.. but the call yesterday was pretty straight forward with all those items roughly costed up to give the agreed value.. surely thats the value they would base a payout on? (probably not haha)
Normally all they will pay is the book value of the bike unless you undertake an epic struggle or know the in's and out of claims. If you declare it as worth more than book value you pay a higher premium but still get book, but if you declare the value as under book then that is all you get. Not sure how it works on an agreed value though, would hope it means you get what is agreed.
