I couldn't wait any longer. I'm booked in for frt springs and oil change next week, but looking at my new rear shocker got the better of me. So I Fit it myself in about an hour, this morning. it was actually easier than doing the bloody tail tidy. I bought a 2010 brand new shocker of a 0miles bike for £80... Wow what a difference, no longer does my sorry arse feel to be hanging on to the rear. I didn't realise the rear shock was that knackered after 23,000 miles. I don't even think about the back now. I know for many with Ohlins, standard new shock is some way away from your stuff, but after sitting on a shock that's done 23,000 miles I came back with a grin on my face For those interested 17mm socket 14mm spanner 5mm Allan key Axles stands Removed the hugger and lower fairing cowl Loosen the three bolts to bottom and one to top of shocker Drop onto axle stands from paddock stands Remove the lower triangular plate and take out the top bolt Drop shocker out from bottom Re-assemble Check frt and rear sag - click 4 on rear shock gave me 35mm of sag (14stone) Air Flap mod I wanted to see what happened with it connected again as the previous owner had blanked it off. All I can say is what a surprise, it runs so much smoother on light throttle at low speeds, no more snatchy ness and whilst it was a bit windy today, it didn't sound as noises like the gearbox was going to throw a gear, just a nice turbo like feel and so much smoother, so it's staying on Just got the frt springs next week and see what it's like Exhaust, chain and sprockets next month... The Mrs doesn't notice if added monthly
Did the same myself, got a new unused 10 shock for £50 then got a new unused 10 exhaust for £50 and sold my old one for £50. Result. bike looks mint.
Get the suspension dialled in for you when the springs are replaced and you'll notice a lot of difference again, best and cheapest mod by far!
