this may sound like a stupid question but could someone please explain to me what a power commander is, what it's designed to do, and does it make much difference ? is it something i can do or best left to the specialists(have an Akra carbon slip on fitted)

Had a bit of an unexpected bonus in this months paycheck so thought i'd treat the bike to a mod or two, had the bike (abs model) two months covered 1800 miles.

Also been advised to get HEL lines fitted anyone done this ? is it worth it ? does it make that much difference ?

    thank you

The power commander controls the fueling of your bike. it controls the injectors so it can be adjusted to make the perfect air/fuel ratio, or run in lean or rich if you wish to do so.

A custom dyno map will be a good mod because if properly set up it will be ultra smooth with no flat spots. if your bike is running rich then the custom map will give you better mpg and if its running lean it will prevent further engine damage

if you have the gear to measure the air/ fuel ratio then you can do it yourself but if not then take it to a professional dyno guy

I have hel lines fitted and to be honest i did not notice any differance but they will last as long as the bike lives where as the standard rubber hoses will gradually start to break down after about 4 years and eventually need replacing.

    Hope this helps

Fitting HEL lines etc on an ABS Bike will require a Full ABS Bleed, so if ya Bike is approaching 2 years old then you can kill 2 Birds with 1 Bleed as it's a requirement at that service interval! ;)

A power commander or similar Bazzaz as I have are handy things to have, remove/ can remove flat spots and give a bit more power. Plus my Bazzaz gives me quick shifter, and traction control with I can adjust on my bars

But I was always told the most important thing if you ride like me, fast road and track is tyres and suspension. So I get the best tyres that suit me and will be getting my suspension set up soon

Truthfully, if you're looking at these for performance purposes, I would avoid both of these mods until you think you actually need or want them for a specific reason.
