It had to happen sometime. Putting bike on paddock stand while on my own. Holding it up with one hand putting stand under with other and over it goes. Pull something in back lifting it up and then look at damage. Exhaust - engine casing - fairing panel - mirror - brake lever all scraped. Hobble from garage to house get called a few choice words from wife and now feeling a bit down. Anyway life goes on and I now have to find replacement parts and if anyone can help me out with best places to get em. Exhaust will have to wait a bit till I save up for a Yoshi. Bike is a 2009 repsol
Oh no. Mine almost went over when on the side stand the other night. It was on my driveway and it wasn't very even. Luckily I wasn't trusting it and was right there to catch it just as it started to go. Good luck in finding the bits!
Bummed for you mate, I hate using the paddock, I only use it to adjust the chain and then only use it in conjunction with an ABBA. Cheap zorst on the bay Honda cbr1000rr exhaust 2008 | eBay With regards to casings it's cheaper just to cover with some GB racing covers.
Did that myself mate, but managed to throw myself underneath it, as it went down very slowly. I was lucky I only ended up with a slight scrape to my engine slider and bar end (as well as some bruising to my legs). Could have been worse. Hope you get it sorted. You feel like a bloody idiot for doing it, but it happens.
Gonna get R&G covers for casings. The fairing panel is what i really need as all the rest can be done with aftermarket bits.
Gutted Wurzel, that slo mo topple that you should be able to reach but find you're stuck in treacle too. When I smashed up my Ducati, my mate, behind me, quick as a flash stopped and jumped off his blade to come to help only to see the side stand crumple underneath the bike. He ended up crouched with it resting on the top of his legs. Such is the biker hatred of seeing the slow topple that I dragged myself out from under the wreck of my bike and the car I killed it with and ran to pull his back upright. You can't help it, its like rescuing a puppy.
Sorry to hear this but these things happen. Paddock stands are a test and sometimes we fail but I find that a good single malt helps!
Oh No!! Sorry to hear that mate!!! I notice you said you stood the bike up with one hand THEN put the paddock stand... I usually line up the paddock stand on the bobbins, THEN stand the bike up with one hand... That way the stand is already in place...
Sorry for ya wurzel, did it myself a couple of years ago, but with a mates bike that I'd borrowed , I always prop mine nearly vertical now with a big side stand puck and a wilbur smith book that's just the right size before using the paddock stand, but I'm saving up for an abba stand!
ABBA stand make life easier but can still be a bit unnerving...... i managed to catch my mates r1 by the bar when it fell... had a bad back for weeks
Crap news mate, haven't dropped the bike as such but managed to drop the front & cracked both sides of me akra carbon hugger.
All is now well apart from the scrapes on the fairing. Don't know if to get a new panel or if anyone knows where I can get it done up within reasonable range (Yorkshire) as its only the red part that's scraped. The back took 3 visits to an osteopath.
