noisy rattle under load

    help can anyone tell me what the fook it is,doin my head in
    when in a too higher gear and you twist the throttle you can hear a kind of metal rattle like its the valves rattling,
    its a 1000rr 06 5k on the clock :rolleyes:

    Have you had the chance to check the bike over yet, ie under the tank to check if there is anything loose. It could be something as stupid as the airfilters being loose inside the airbox. The previous owner may well have changed these back to standard before the sale???

    Just a thought before you delve any deeper.

    I'd be very surprised it was the valves at 5K unless she's been run dry n hot at some point.

    less than a month
    i had a 600 cbr before this and i had nothing like the sound ive got on this one

    My 06 does the same, sounds like it's pinking, don't think it is anything to worry about my brother 09 did the same and remember these are pretty mechanical sounding engines. Only does it between 3000-4000 rpm

    true but coming from a 600 honda thought it would be just as quiet

    I take it, it wasn't from a dealer or else you wouldn't be asking for help :(
    Without actually hearing it for myself I honestly can't say what it is. If I were you I'd take the bike to a bike garage to get them to check it out for you. In the very least you will know what it is and take it from there.

    There are other more qualified guys on here who may be able to help in your worries.

    stick a loud exhaust on, hey presto noise gone. She'll be fine get it checked for piece of mind, dump the oil for new and let her have it.

    Work Tuesday to Saturday (closed Mondays) Also working Sunday this week :(

    I could make it Sunday to break up your shift. It would give me the excuse (as if I need it) to hit the Galashiels road to Edinburgh. Weathers looking good also :)
