Noob ask for help with Sprockets & Chain

Hi guys.
Sorry im such a noob and i got tons of question that might be stupid. But im learning on the way over here =)
Got a 08 Fireblade and need to change sprockets and chain.
I would love to have black sprockets and red chain. Anyone that can recommend brand and size for chain and sprockets?

I think OEM is 16/42?

 

I would look at AFAM chain and sprockets. They do black sprockets and coloured chains. As for sprocket sizes, it depends on whether you are doing track days or just road riding. If it's for road riding I'd stick to standard gearing.

Though a slightly chunkier chain always looks good

Im doing riding on roads 90% and small tracks once a week. Will try real tracks next year but thats once or twice.
Ill take a look at AFAM then =)

 

With that many track days I would maybe try a +2 tooth rear sprocket.

 

EK also do coloured chains ranging from blue, yellow, purple, black, orange, red and green.

The once a Week track is a small gocart track more for training corners for noobs

Anyone got links to onlinestores where you can get kits with black n red?

 

If it is short tracks then I would defo be going up 2 teeth on the rear sprocket. It'll give you better punch out of the corners. I'll update this post with a link in a moment.

Just black sprockets then. If i go with standard 16/42 or 16/43-44. How do i know i get right size on the chain?

When ordering the chain let them now that you have a larger rear sprocket and they will send out the correct length of chain. I find it best if you actually phone them to order it.
