Looking at visiting a mate who lives in Rotterdam sometime in the spring and was looking at taking the bike.

Are there any half decent roads between Calais and Rotterdam or anywhere interesting to look at.

Looking pretty dull from what I can see on Google maps.

    Cheers

Depends on how far off the direct route you want to take but, if you stay off the main Autoroute's there are some OK local roads, but will take you a lot longer. Ypres is worth a visit if you are interested in WW1.
Brugge is also a great stop for lunch.

I rode from Calais to Assent for the BSB round last year, on the way back had to detour via Rotterdam, roads are soooooo boring had to ride at silly speeds to break the boredom. If you want to make the journey more interesting and have the time, look at visiting the lovely city of Brugge (stayed there a few times) and even try Ghent (stayed there with work few times)

Was hoping to stop at Bruges on the way.

I've decided to take a few more days off work and head over the to Eifel mountains after Rotterdam, make a proper trip of it :)

Brugges is worth a visit. Roads in Holland in my limited experience are hideously boring. The last 3 years we've came through Germany to the Dutch border on mostly unlimited Autobahn and after the border the road to Ijmuiden and the ferry home is excrutiatingly slow.

If you're going to the Eiffel, think about the Ardennes. Fantastic roads in eastern Belgium.

Try going via La Roche en Ardenne. Lovely little town and the N89 to Samree is a FANTASTIC bit of road . We did it 9 times one day and went back for more later in the week.

I'll see if I can find some more parts of the route we took from Charleville Meziers to Spa mate. Some great roads and nice villages.
