Was looking at the bike last night and saw a smudge of what looked like grease/fling on the rear wheel. Wiped it and revealed a lovely patch of shiny silver with a burr at one end and not the smooth black it should be. Can only think that the tyre fitter damaged it when fitting the new tyres, but as I didn't check it then I have no proof. Suppose the lesson is to not trust any fecker who works on my bike, my fault for not doing so but I am severely pi$$ed off with it
I wont use my local Tyre fitter again due to him scratching the front really badly on my R1 to the point where I coundnt not notice ! I said about it and he said they were like that when they came in ! wouldnt accept he did it at all ! lying git ! Makes me bad they obviously tried to hide it on your bike though !
Good idea. I have a black rattle can. Hopefully I will just to clean it with some meths/IPA and tape it off. Trouble is I am worse at spraying than I am at mechanics. Oh well needs must.
This is why I have now got my own tyre changing bits, can order tyres online and fit myself Sorry to hear about your damage
You can even just brush it on if easier, it just protects it for now and unless its right on the rim you prob won't notice
SHUT UP SHUT UP! Im having my tyres changed in next couple of Days now I'm worrying about me rims!! Grrr Guy who did me puncture did a good job but he is more pricey for hoops than most...but wondering if its worth the re-assurance?
I use Mobile bike tyres Sleaford, he takes the wheel off your bike does the business all in front of you, nice chap too? Im not sure if he goes to your part of Lincolnshire? [email protected]
He does, he did, he won't be doing so again. Sadly I had to go back inside and work and so wasn't there when he did it. Like I said no proof but I don't know how else it could happen.
Personally I don't leave the bike, I watch whoever is changing the tyres the whole time. If they don't like it I go somewhere else! Because I don't trust anybody due to previous experiences. It ain't paranoia if they really are out to not give a fcuk & damage yer wheels !
Work was done a few months ago. If he did it and covered it up with grease then he isn't likely to admit it. Also I can't guarantee it was him, but I would have thought a tyre fitter would have pointed the damage out beforehand if it was there to stop any accusation. Sadly one I have to take on the chin and keep an eye on fleabay for a replacement wheel.
