Hi All. I'm new to the forum and I just started running in my 2013 HRC toy yesterday. First impressions are very good other than the clutch doesn't feel as smooth as I expected. It could be described as almost "notchy". It's also engaging too soon which I will adjust out, but there is this strange click when the lever is back at the bars ! Is it related to the slipper clutch ? I've had bikes before with slipper clutches but their clutch operation has still been silky smooth.

Any advice welcomed. I can of course mention to my dealer when the first service is due.

    Cheers:confused:

It's the slipper mate... Normal. You'll soon get used to it.

I had a 2009 Repsol before the ABS packed in and that done it. Then Honda exchanged this for the 2009 HRC (quicker bike) and this does the same too so, I reckon it's normal. One thing I have noticed with mine (and others here) is that the cable guide near the clutch arm isn't parallel with the cable so the cable snags on the inside edge of the guide. Not connected with the notchiness but thought I would say anyway.

Researched in the past and found that it's down to the slipper clutch and perfectly normal. What you'll find is that you can minimise/eliminate it by experimenting with the way you use the clutch (eg, make sure the throttle is fully closed before clutching on downshifts).

I always think that the cable is about to snap the way it feels.

Thanks all. At least it's normal or so it seems !!! Phantom - that's exactly what my thoughts were ! A brand new bike and a very second hand clutch cable !!! I'll be playing again this weekend so hopefully I will "adapt" to it.....

Normal. Does it on my new "slower" 2013 Repsol. Got a sigma one on my k2 1ooogsxr and that does it too. Remember taking it back to garage saying that it felt like it was going to snap at the lever.....

Same here, worst clutch feel of any Blade I have owned, easy fix, just bang it up and down without the clutch, changes are much smoother I find, and I make hundreds a day, and never gett a false neutral 1 to 2nd that happens with using the clutch. Dealer changed the clutch after I complained, but it made no difference.

It's totally normal along with the clutch lever moving in and out as you accelerate and de-accelerate.
Also clicking noise from the front forks is normal too but goes once you've gone over a couple of bumps or so.
