What number plate size do we all run then?

The previous 2 bikes I had were sporting smaller ones but I didn't put them on and didn't bother to check what they were. The current one looks a bit big to my eyes so I was thinking of getting a replacement.

I used to have a custom made size for my Hayabusa. You could almost put any size and letters on the number plate couple of years ago. Unfortunately its all over now. The police got a cam on board who tells them right away if the size is wrong or not and that cost me 20 GBP so far. I put a custom "normal size" on my Fireblade because I don't want to give them a reason to look and find anything else on my bike which doesn't confirm the rules, otherwise I don't care.

9x7 is the legal dish plate. I have two custom plates one 8x6 and another 7x5 but tend to use the 8x6 mostly and so far have not had any issues with the boys in blue. Even got asked a few questions regarding performance and handling last year by a bobby and no mention of the plate. I think if you go to small you wil be seen as taking the piss and get nicked. 8x6 doesnt seem to get noticed. It is also a good idea to pop on one of those red reflectors, not sure if they are needed but when I purchased the bike I got the dealer to put on the R&G tail tidy and they said you need one.

Nice one. Thanks for your responses everyone. Gives me something to be going on with. I'd like it smaller but not take-the-piss-small :)

7" x 5.5" standard font which I've had on bikes for over 4 years with no Police attention. I think it's about as small as you can go before they take exception and stick to the standard font. I think all the dodgy fonts look crap anyway.

Interesting, 7x5 seems to be the norm with you guys, maybe I will put mine back on then, looks so much nicer than the 8x6.
