Read today that the Nurburgring has been rescued. Two companies have paid 75 million euros plus another 25 million euros for improvements. Takeover is due January 2015.

Great news, certainly worth a visit for any petrol head.

Awesome! Although hope they keep it similar withy the same buzz and atmosphere - special place and be sad to lose that.

But just digging around and looks like a local firm got it, inc the gp track / facility and the ring! Which will remain open :)

Nürburgring officially sold for 100M euros - Autoblog although this says €75m plus €25m investment - bargain!!! ;)

Wonder if prices will hike or tourist laps format will change? Interesting times....

Read somewhere (MCN?) that they were introducing car and bike-only sessions, which is not before time, imo.

When I went round it the left-hand side was nose-to-tail with chavs in beat-up hot hatches trying to outdo each other and forcing the bikes out to the right. Couldn't go round a left-hand bend without expecting one to overshoot and skittle us out. :(
