Hi folks.. bought a second hand Ohlin Shock of the 'bay for my '06 Blade. Got quoted £192 for a service, £60 for a new spring (if required for my weight) from PDQ near London. Cant help think there must be a cheaper alternative? Especially if I have to ship it to London and back from Aberdeen.. probably end up near the £300 mark! Any good people that know what they are doing in Scotland with these?

There are a few places that advertise services on eBay for around £99 - have a look for Ohlins Service, or try Kais, MCT or MH racing. But the question is does it need it? I did 40k on my Ohlins on my 04 without a problem. Unlike the front forks, that needed new seals, but the ones from the R1 SP lasted a lot longer.

its a very good question.. there was not much history from the seller as he bought it second hand also and it sat in his Garage for a year before selling it on. I thought it best to get a quick service - thinking this would be around £100-ish.. surely its only about 2hrs of labour! Thanks for the tip.. was on Ebay looking at that just now actually :)

Just to update the thread.. ended up sending it to PDQ near London - £180 returned to Aberdeen with all the consumables they changed in a plastic bag.. excellent service.

Thanks for the feedback and positive review.... Worth noting as local to me and to often to easy to forget to post positive reviews!

Always worth getting it serviced.......40,000 miles without servicing  Would you let your bike go that long without a service?............No, thought not. Took mine into Kais and I think he charged around £170 and also fixed the seized adjuster (can't remember if it was rebound or compression) that I knew nothing about. Won't get to see the difference 'til I'm out on track in February.
