i know we done this debate to death a while ago......

but I think mine has used far too much in a short space of track time use.......

Does anyone know if there was ever a recall for certain 08 models.......

and if so (would track day use) put me out of the question of any recall work (if eligible) ?

I believe if the bike is using more than a litre of oil for every 1000miles they will do something, if less than that then nothing

no recalls for it think you would be very lucky to get Honda to do anything about it now.

If its a '' burner '' then it really needs to be using a hell of a lot to get anything done by Honda, this is why the 08/09 models can be difficult to sell sometimes.

My 08 drank oil like a bastard ! Started to make horrible noises at 38,000 miles, so I sold her to a foreign buyer via Ebay !

The 2012 Lady doesn't need a drop between oil changes!

You will have almost no hope of Honda doing £2,000+ of repair work on a 5 year old engine now - I think you are well past any goodwill period.

Try different oils as some make it burn less - if its only a track bike just keep an eye on it before day, lunchtime and you will be fine.

if it is burning a lot, then regardless of how much oil you keep putting in it's not goin to fix the issue,is there any bllack smoke coming out of it?,next time your out get a mate to follow to see if any comes out when powering on/changing gear.

could just be the "honda" trait,or could be more serious (rings/scarred barrels).rings would be the cheaper issue.

For a long time before my 08 started making funny noises, friends said they could smell a weird pong from my exhaust when following me but couldn't see any smoke.
Originally, we thought the rattling was the chain tensioner, so I replaced it but the noise didn't go away. I was told it could be as much as £2000 to strip and repair an engine and had already run up bills of £650 with the local Honda Centre, so I cut my losses and sold it cheap on Ebay.
The bike had done 38,000 miles and was four and a half years old.
All the mechanics I spoke to said they could hear the rattling, didn't know exactly what it was but that the bike was unlikely to blow up!
Once I knew there was a problem, I simply wasn't confident or getting much enjoyment from riding her, so she had to go. I was very sad. She had been a brilliant bike and we had had many great adventures together.
My consolation prize was buying a new 2012 Blade!

I had mates placing bets on when my bike would blow up it used that much oil - they used to see huge diesel style plumes of smoke on gear changes when I was giving it a load of revs.

Never forget at the side of a motorway by a Peage stop reving it almost to red line and MASSIVE plume of smoke (this was before rebuild)

The cheap test to find out if the engine is shot is to do a compression test - mine was hugely out and having moaned at my local dealer when saw the readings and then during the rebuild they could tell it was not right (rings all squishy). Compression after rebuild was then level on all 4 cylinders.

I have so many pictures taken by piss taking mates of me checking my oil only to find the stick almost dry followed by more pics of me pouring oil into it.
