    Hi All

I assume this has proabably been asked loads of times so sorry for asking again, but the search function doesn't seem to like the word Oil.

Need to change the oil on my new (to me) CBR1000RR (2010).

Does it have to be 10W/30 or can you use 10W/40?

Does everyone go with Fully Synthetic?

I think the previous owner used Motul 300V, but I can only find this in a 10W/40.

What does everyone recommend? Is the Motul worth the £20 extra over say a Castol Power 1 racing fully synthetic?

    Cheers
    Mike

Always used Castrol power 1 racing in 10w30 and never had a problem! It was what was recommended by Honda when I bought the bike back in 2008 being mirrored by the same sticker on the frame

I've always used 10w 40 Motul 300v in my 2010 blade. It loves the stuff :)

I use this IMG_1528.PNG . Brilliant, bike seems to run smoother and use less.

10w 40 Motul 300V .... used it for years and never had any issues.... and most my bikes have never led an easy life:cool:

Didn't factor in postage, so I think £49 from Motorcycle Road & Race seems one of the cheapest.

    This might help
It's just about the operating temp range

Just come in from changing mine

Defo ready for it, not sure the previous owner had changed it for a while, looked pretty grim.

10/40 would be fine. I suggest you stay with full synthetic to keep up with the previous owner's good work.
I actually use 10/50 which you may want to consider if your bike spends a lot of time in traffic or pushed hard
