How much oil does your blade use? When I picked up my bike today, the dealer told me to keep an eye on the oil level as blades can use up to 1 litre of oil between services... WTF? Or are Honda using oil injection in the cylinders? H
Welcome to blade ownership - 3.5 litres in a week was my worst experience , to be fair over 3,000 miles Its better now - but def. check it every 500 miles
I use Hein Gerrick stuff - paid £10 for 4 litres - got given about 15 1 litre bottles of various brands as a wind up birthday present one year - I can rate the bottles more than the contents - most of it has been used now and mixing it all up made no difference (in last 20,000 miles that is)
have 800 miles on mine so far .............. no oil used do you think something is wrong, maybe see what the dealer says?
I have one of the few UK blades which got rebuilt under warranty due to oil use - some of the first batch of bikes affected - it became a joke and used 1 litre in 472 miles or something on the formal oil use test - Honda then said 'oh you started test in Manchester dealer and finished it in Oban Honda dealer so not valid, you will have to re-do it' was a small question of had it used 980ml or 1000ml of oil (like one figure was acceptable and the other unaccaptable) God I'm ranting but had to go through so much pain to start with!
I remember you going through all that, think milf hunter an badger had the same problem as well as the cam pulse failures
For the 1st 10000 miles mine consumed about 450ml / 1000 miles, I was totally disgusted with this figure but was advised by several Honda dealerships who had all been practicing their straight face that upto 1000ml / 1000 miles was totally acceptable for a new bike that cost £10,000. Its approaching 20000 miles now and has slowed to under 250ml / 1000 miles, who knows by the time its reached 50000 miles it may not use a drop.
Never really measured mine (08 model), but oil consumption is minimal, I'd say less than 200ml per 1000 miles, certainly no worse than the RR6 I had before.
You used to get high oil consumption from being too gentle with the running in process. Thrape em from new I say!
