Hi guys im new to hondas i have a rr7 and the last 2 times ive started it the oil warning light has stayed on for 5 minutesish , is just a warming issue or should i be concerned once the light is out it stays out,i never had this on my kwak but then it probably never had warning lights. Thanks
As far as I know its an oil presure warning, not level, although very low level then gives low presure - but often by that time its too late. Others with greater mechanical knowledge / skill can give better info but I would def. get it checked - it could be the switch giving false warning which is simple to fix or it could indicate a different issue Have you checked the level is spot on ?
Let's hope it's a fault with the electronics or the pressure sensor. The oil light comes on when the oil pressure is very low, engine type damage low. It's not something to ignore. It is curious it stays on five mins then doesn't show again. the oil when cold usually gives a higher pressure. I've not thought very long but blocked oil filter comes to mind. Good luck, keep us informed, Mike Don't run it till you have some better information of what's happening! I have an 07, just looked in the handbook, it is a pressure warning light.
The level is ok,its when its been stood, when i start it up the light stays on for a while sometimes flickers then goes out the bike runs and sounds fine been for a short ride stop/start no problems but i reckon next time i start it up it will do the same, could it be faulty sensor or knackered filter? I think i will give it new oil and filter and re check it thanks al
I mean when oil pressure lights come on the pressure is really low, a real danger of severe damage to the engine, and it doesn't take long to happen. I'm not an expert on Blade engines, cars are my thing, but to do an oil pressure test you will have to get someone with a gauge and hose to connect to the pressure sensor. It's probably a mechanic job.
First thing I would do is change the oil pressure sensor, if the light remains on after changing the sensor, then it's going to need looking at professionally but whatever you do DO NOT RIDE IT to a garage. Have it recovered by a recovery service or if you or anybody you know has a trailer use that.
Oil pressure switch is just under the clutch casing. Check the wiring is not shorting to frame as this would give an intermittent red light. The wire lead has a plastic cover if this has touched the exhaust it might have bared the wire. Good hunting 007
Thanks people youve give me plenty to lay awake all night thinkin about will follow advice and keep you informed hopefully nothin major
Thanks for replies guys i started her up today and red light appeared again so switcched off,got on my hands and knees to check pressure switch and when i went to grip it It kind of clicked into place , started her back up and hey presto no horrible red light. Im sorry for wasting your time i know i should of checked this but im new with blades. God i feel like a complete nobhead but a very relieved complete nobhead thanks
Don't say that you did exactly the correct thing, your not familiar with the bike, you played it safe and asked. The old saying ... The only daft question is the one not asked. We have all had a bit fun racking our brains, and we have learnt something to. Result all round.. Good luck Mike.
