Having only had a Bike for 10 years i would be interested in views of any one that either owned or has rode the first Fireblade 1992 CBR 900 rr and now has a modern version I know the cost in the 90s was quite a lot compared to the weekly wage of the day .So was it super good for the times and would it handle close on the current gem?

I owned a 92 and a 94 blade. In there day they were awesome. I remember crashing up at ribble head viaduct trying to keep up with one on my GSXR 750M. As usual I couldn't afford one then. The 94 one I had about 2 ago was best. Online shock and mint condition. Nice bike, but my 1000rr5 would leave it for dead, especially in the handling stakes. Early blades had awesome build quality though. Would be nice to have one for sunny days.

Rode one back in 94, fekn best bike on the road at that time bar none IMHO. Would'nt look at a more current model though, but I would still love to have an unmolested genuine red/white/blue in my garage.

Bought 2 x 1992 blades first retailed at £7200 the second was offered at £6500 so bought that as well reason I had intentions of getting a Yamaha ow01 for the track now I had a track and road bike. A mate smashed his bike 1994 only had third party so bought it off him and restored that. In 1995 saw the RRS chopped the 1992's for that and a year later had the bike tweeked by Slick Bass, from there I went onto doing all my own work and have not stopped. In 2004 bought the litre job that is a remarkable machine more power than the average rider can use so when I have the opportunity to ride a carbed blade with that 16incher its fun all the way much more user friendly can nail that all the time.
