Well that's the end of bike season for me ! Can't believe Cheshire council are out gritting the roads tonight it's only the middle of October :-(
They've been out for the last 2 weeks up here mate. I reckon my bike will be off the road by next weekend
The wnakers have been 'testing' the fleet down here for weeks, idiots. They could tell if they're working by driving them around the car park rather than flinging stones at your P&J when there's no need for it. It's bad enough when there's a reason for it. Come Christmas they'll be bitching they're running low on grit.
Your problems are solved people. these will help when the gritters are out Raleigh Bike / Cycle Universal Stabilisers 16-20 Wheel | eBay Thank me later
I had to go to Exeter services about 5 weeks ago, had to pick up from le mans gear from a mate who came up from Plymouth and the gritters were out then. bare in mind that was later Aug early Sept
They took so much stick last year and the year before for getting to Haldon hill too slowly, they can't take that risk again.
might be so but I got caught out big time when i come up to them . they was doing 40 max I was doing double that at 7PM. Slammed on the brakes to slow to their speed. WHAT TO Do, the next 5 miles at 40 max or try and get past them ( they are in the middle lane spreading all over the place) After a mile I thought feck it and put my foot down poor bloody car
Spooky. Sat reading your post and in the corner of my eye noticed the flashing amber lights of a gritter passing the house. Earlier I put the chain and lock on the bike and it's freezing cold even in the garage. Loads of surface water too so the roads are gonna be pretty lethal tomorrow. "Be careful out there".
it's just so wrong, next thing you'll know we'll be knee deep in white stuff and they'll be moaning they're out of grit
Panic already setting into the ranks deep breath required. Just had the most enjoyable warm sunny day for ages (Mid October) My take on this (remembering that at trade in time ) all my bikes are near to mint ! I have 12 months insurance and tax so besides fuel and a trickle charge the running cost are nil. So after the grit has been washed away 90% by heavy rain coat the bike all over in silicone spray and if the roads and weather allow get on the damn thing and enjoy (you wont get any more at trade in )for parking it up ! Last year i posted a photo of me at The Pondarosa in Wales on Boxing Day ,nothing brave about that as it was a nice warm /dry day. Everybody to there own but no mass panic needed.
