Note: hairspray does not keep the grips still; it was a rubbish suggestion. I have used super glue. I will let it set for 24+ hours and then test.
Used contact adhesive evo stick worked on throttle side .Superglue on clutch side is the only way to make grip stay in place. Anyone reading this please do test fit first superglue gives you no time to correct any mistakes.
I will go and tell my bike (and previous ones) that hairspray doesn't work and that the grips are to rotate freely immediately
You my friend are confusing "heated grips" with "rubber strectch" grips, Heated grips do not contract themselves onto the bars.They need adhesive.
My Datatool ones were so tight I had to file the bars. I then knocked them on with a rubber mallet and couldn't get them back off so didn't need glue !!
I've used hairspray on grips for the last 15 years on everything from sportsbikes with heated grips to enduro bikes to my BMX and mountain bike. If it's not working, you're doing it wrong.
It would seem that there is a difference with the sizes of heated grip and bars, some are so tight they don't need glue,others have to have glue, more than once,, so there is no one fix for everybody.Mind those who have heated grips on BMX's are spoilt !!!
I have Datatool heated bars too and love them. Mine aren't glued on either, just scaped off the remains of the Honda factory adhesive and "persuaded" them on (had to chamfer the ends on the bike first though). Thought I would have to glue them one day as they might get looser, but that's never been needed. Along with satnav, heated bars are the modifications that have most enhanced my motorcycling happiness!
