Have any of you people had a PC drop a map thru disconnecting the battery? When I was last out on the blade the other day, all seemed to be fine until I rolled off the throttle and the revs appeared to be coming down in stages........a bit like an automatic gearbox changing down while coasting, it could be heard and felt quite plainly, my tuner guy thinks that the PCV has dropped the map but he can't be sure until he gets the bike on his dyno next week. Has anyone on the forum had this little problem???

never heard of this before.the memory in it isnt dependent on voltage to hold onto the
map so I think there might be something else wrong here.

I agree with Phantom, it doesn't need power BUT I did buy a blade with what seemed like a rubbish PCV map when I can see that the previous owner paid for a custom map. It rode terribly when I picked it up, and a map I got online is a big improvement. Sounds like a similar issue, somehow the proper map disappeared

Yeah it's like the map I had done on the dyno is no longer there, but if that is the case then what map is the PC using? Does the unit have a default map installed? This has only become an issue since I swapped batteries a couple of weeks ago..........

The PCV interrupts your standard map, so if it somehow became disconnected or lost power you would be back on the standard map

Have you plugged into it at all at any point? Like above sounds like possibly an issue with a faulty PCV possibly.....

If you connect a laptop you should be able to see what map it is running currently. Mine came with the Zero map as default so that shouldnt change whatever the standard setup is as it show in theory just pass through without any adjustments. If it is faulty I would be concerned about the potential to run your bike lean or too rich if it's running out of character.

I can ask at my dyno session tomorrow and see if the tuner has any ideas

Always a chance the PCV is faulty, if your dyno centre is good they will have a backup of your map, the PCV has NVM Non volatile memory so does not need any power to retain the maps, worth YOU hooking up to a PC and GET MAP and SAVE MAP so you have a copy while you can just in case they don't have the map saved, if you (as said) ZERO all the numbers in your table and SEND MAP the PCV will make no change to the fuel on the bike, while connected you could observe the throttle position reads 0 to 100 as you turn the throttle to give an idea if the throttle position sensor is faulty, after that remove it all together and ride it again.

Thanks for the replies guy's my dyno guy does keep all maps on file so shouldn't be a problem to reinstall
@ Arthur I will hook it up to laptop later and see what readings I am getting

It's only an observational test mate, but you should see 0% to 100% throttle. Id save the map and send a ZERO table to the bike while ticking over you should hear a change in idle speed if not you could send a bunch of 20s to the idle zone again to hear if the PCV is correcting the fueling once established its working I'd resend the custom map and try it again, after that your looking at riding with a zero map, then disconnecting it.
