Hi guys, I've bought a second hand Akra exhaust and PCV, it has a custom map loaded and I've spoken a lot with the seller (a member on here) and it's from the same age bike with the same air filter (K&N). My question is, would the custom map be ok for my bike or would people choose to reload the base map? Cheers for any experienced answers!
If it's from the same bike and has the same filter then it is the same set up so the map should be fine. If in doubt, take it to a local dyno center as most will do a run for £30 -£40 quid which will tell you how it is running. Or buy the autotune module and away you go.
Thanks for the reply, that's pretty much where I'm at with it. I'll be fitting it all up in a week or so and will probably just see how it runs as it is. I've heard there's a pretty good place for dyno near me in Peterborough so I'll go there if not.
I'd use the base map to be honest! Reason being if his bike was running rich and they leaned off the map when it was custom mapped and your bike runs lean now you could end up damaging you bike
I have compared the custom versus the base Akra map and it is leaned off a fair bit and I did wonder since I thought reducing back pressure would lean it out already. Maybe you're right, this is all the thoughts I had so it's a good discussion.
Just to finish the thread, after I got it all fitted, it did seem to run fine with the custom map but in my mind feels better on the stock Akra map.
