Just curious as to weather you removed the standard heat shield and if so what did you replace with. Also I'm about to fit a yoshi can and link pipe on my rr7 but the new pipe doesn't have palace for the servo wires for the flappy part in the exhaust? Do I just disconnect and tie them out the way? Cheers guys and gals
I think it depends on the shape/size of the new exhaust, but most remove the heatshield (for example, my akrapovic is designed with the OE heatshield in mind, so you can happily leave it) I lined the under side with heat reflecting material, cut to a pattern that you can find from the Scorpion website... dont know what the exact material is called as a member of this forum sent me a sheet of it... very kind! As for the exhaust valve stuff, there isnt really anywhere neat to tie the cables, so your best bet is to remove them completely. This is quite simple, you just have to access the servo motor. Then you can remove the servo motor if you wish, and fit a little tiny connector thingy to stop the bike's ECU throwing a wobbler. I simply left my servo motor in place for now. Hope that makes sense! EDIT: some links to explain what I mean - The heat reflecting/insulating tape was a bit like this: ebay heat stuff Heat sheet template from Scorpion is in the installation PDF found here: Scorpion exhaust page
If you haven't already bought some Matt, I still have some left over (just shy of A4 size I think). If you can wait I should be able to get hold of it early next week?
