You got the Stihl out for some fairing bolts mate ;)

Looks sore but you still got your fingers, plenty of people in our yard that have lost a few, even my father who had his whole leg ripped off with a winch cable!

    Hope it gets better soon.

Cordless Tools do Spark quite a bit on start up, especially when the carbon brushes are a little worn or the Tool aint been used for a while.

You can see this if you look through the slotted air vents of the tool.

If the operator has Petrol fumes nearby or Fuel spillage on their hands the vapour cloud eminating from this can easily ignite!

    GWS Bud!

Bloody Hell Mark.......that does look sore, it will tighten up all the skin in that area over the next days so keep it really moist mate. Presume you went to the hospital for treatment??. Always important to keep any infection away from that area, otherwise you are f*cked!! Right hand as well, so keep it away from all that shitty work you get involved with.
Where we have any flamable solutions in work, the area is zoned to prevent the use of tools which can produce heat or sparks which can ignite the vapours (it's the petrol vapours that explode not the fuel itself). GWS fella. Kev

    GWS.

One upside is that the weather is changing so bike gloves won't be such a requirement.

drilling a petrol tank on a car got the bit stuck, time l'd got it back into the chuck the petrol has filled the Drill and was all way down my arm, soon as I hit the trigger it exploded. Got sent to the Burns unit at Pinderfields in Wakefield, its getting better and not too sore.
I know what your saying Kev I just got slack!!!
    No gloves for a month ; )

Looks painful, GWS, could have been a lot worse though.

Plus one on the guidance about power tools but don't forget any cutting, even with an air tool can cause a spark which in turn can ignite. Empty fuel tanks can be more dangerous than a full one because of the quantity of vapour. Plus the vapour can collect/travel in low levels away from the source and then hit an ignition source.
