Right, so for the last two days I have been getting real bad pins and needles in my hands – mainly my right hand.

Trying to narrow down what the issue could be and how I can fix it..

What has changed for the last 2 days?

    • Major traffic started – so using clutch \ brakes allot more
    • I removed the aftermarket bar end’s (these were on the bike for 3 days) and put the standard ones back on.
    • I dropped the bike – Very slow drop
    • i changed my jacket
    rop

    Help...

Usually i get this if the traffic is slow for a few miles (lack of circlulation) the bar ends will have a bit to do with it as well as they take the vib out of the bars. Try a decent 10 mile run with no traffic (early Sat am) and see ,or if you start looking like Chris Walker phone the Stroke help line.

    Pins and needles.
Tell me about it. I've been wanting to mention about this and how it pertained to me and how I did 417 miles on Sunday and with a couple of changes I had no issues what so ever.
So what have I done that I hadn't before?

Riding position. Are you happy to get your body weight over your bike?
I'll be honest, you know what, I think I took more thoughts to the bike and scratching the tank. I wear a hoody, it's a fleece with a zip, I was always paranoid about scratching the tank, even though I have protectors on the tank I kept my body away from it.
    The remedy.
My neighbour removed the zip and did a cracking job of sewing it up for me, that's the thought process eliminated of zip damaging the tank. I rode I suspect how you should, body forwards with the old nadgers up against the tank.
Seriously, I found imense comfort when cornering getting my weight over the bike rather than riding it as if it had straight bars.
Being aware when you become Lazy or tired.
I kept check on myself whilst riding and yes, I became lazy, instead of using my back strength, I relied on my arms, almost locking them on the bars. This puts strain on the hands thus cutting the circulation off to the hands.
    Remedy.
Kept a check on what I was doing, reminding myself where and what i should be doing, I put I would say more effort and comcentration into this ride out than I'd ever done before.

Put your bike on the padlock stand, sit on your bike as you normally would. See how it feels?
Your arms are purely there for control not for weigh bearing.

    Just my thoughts on it.

Sorry it turned into a novel ;)

    What gary said.

I sometimes get pins and needles, but only in traffic as i'm weighting the bars more. When getting a move on, i just cup the bars lightly..it doesn't half make a difference.

I had this really badly on my ducati 748 and was recommended to get some stomp grip so as to grip the tank a bit better with my legs instead of putting all the weight on my arms. I never did do it and I used to try and just `cup` the bars lightly while out on a run.
But the duc has quite an extreme riding position anyway. Can`t wait to get my blade on friday to try it out, I could feel the difference straight away just sitting on it in the shop :D
If the same thing happens with the blade I`ll invest in some stomp grip

    Just my 2p worth ;)

there is a trick that sometimes helps that a few duke riders do and
thats to squeeze the tip of your thumb to the tip of each finger
one by one and it sometimes gets rid of the pins and needles quicker.
worked for me a load of times.also thicker gloves and softer bar grips
    can help.

Try not to grip the bars so tight and relax the elbows, If it's in your 3rd and little fingers its the ulna nerve being trapped. long term this can be a problem, mine was bad for months and I eventually had to have an op in the elbow because the nerve was trapped. You can easilly get it checked to see where the problem is by using electrodes.. Ulnar nerve entrapment - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I put some foam grips on my rr5 which makes a big difference, and also make sure gloves are not on over tight.... Plus what the others said ;)

I am surprised no one has mentioned either Helibars or Variobars, i understand these can make a real difference and look very stock.

Try some rearsets mate. After fitting a set to the blade I've not had any pins and needles since.
