Hello Ladies and Gentleman. I took my Blade for an MOT today and they gave me an advisory for play in the rear suspension linkage which I am very surprised about. There is roughly half an inch play. My bike is a cbr 1000rr8 on an 08 plate with 4500 miles on it. It has not had a hard time or seen a track. Due to the bikes age condition and mileage, I think this is normal and I am hoping some one on here will confirm this please.

    Cheers

Yes, even mine at 7 miles had play in the overall linkage system. It is noticable more at the shock connections as if the bolts are too small. I think they allow for thermal expansion given that the exhaust is close by.

Cheers for your reply Pete that's a relief I didn't think there was an issue with it.

Yep normal, tester does not know his bikes! They all have it as said from new! However I would repack the bushes with high quality greese to stop ware and reduce play even more as they dont put much in from new thats half the problem. I often do it as part of a service.

Just cast an eye on the lower nuts to he sure none are loose as I doubt the tester bothered!

No not at all, easy with an abba stand, place on stand, support wheel at low point, undo all shock and linkage bolts, remove bushes and grease, replace... simple.

    Total time 1 hour max.
