    Hi Everybody

I'm Ken. I live just outside of Exeter in Devon. I had a nearly thirty year break from two wheels, always intending to go back and even mothballing my CB550F in the back of the garage in expectation. The day came when a customer of mine lured me out of retirement by waving his '96 Ducati 750SS under my nose.

Don't get me wrong, I loved that bike, but the constant maintenance snags, spares availability wilderness and unexplainable and intermittant refusals to co-operate with when I actually wanted to ride it meant that even though I'm still mourning the fact that I beat it to death with the the tailgate of a Nissan Micra a few months ago, I had already convinced myself that it's replacement had to be a Honda and my lustful gaze was being drawn towards late model 600F's.

All well and good until, and I swear it was my wife's idea to go there, I walked into Bridge Motorcycles and saw the 2002 CBR900RR2 that appeared to have been licked clean by it's previous owner every night before he went to bed.

A forty minute test ride told me everything else I wanted to know and it now snuggles up against the 550, which is now to be a retirement project (if the government ever allows me to retire).

So, sorry to be a bit long winded in intro but that's who I am and why I'm here. I'll probably be asking some stupid questions, so apologies up front and please remember I'm a newbie.

    Cheers

    Ken

Hi Ken, I've just partexed a beautiful CBR929RR 52 plate for an RR5 and though I love my new blade theres part of me that missed my RR1. You will love the RR2 some say the best blade ever, Bike Mag, May or June issue I think?

    Enjoy it!!

    Hi & Welcome.

Any pics of the 550 Four ? That's the first bike I bought after I passed my test ! A bit of a nail if I'm honest but I loved it at the time.

Mine's the Candy blue one. It's true, it wasn't the greatest bike but I love it, which is why I wont let Mrs Kpone make me get rid. I could never adjust the damn cam chain on it properly and I swear the frame used to bend in fast corners. There aren't that many pictures of it back in the day but I'll see what the loft has to offer.

    Pictures at last

Haven't been to a nice enough location to do anything arty yet, so I've done a few on the drive for now.

Yeah I feel really lucky to find it. Especially by accident. Low miles, full dealer history, full service the previous month which included a new pair of Diablo Corsa III's, really cossetted by it's previous owners, and there were three of them. I was just browsing and was looking for a 600. What else could I do. It had an Akro slip on can on it and a really ugly tail tidy that did nothing for the looks and the salesman said "we can put it back to standard if you like" and sure enough there was the original Titanium muffler in the complete Akro packaging and the original back end and indicators all wrapped up in bubble wrap. He wouldn't move on the ticket price but offered me a 12 month warranty on it, so I rushed home for my leathers, had a 40 minute test ride and there ya go.

A customer of mine has just started a cherished vehicle photgraphic service and owes me some favours. Looking at the bike on the drive in the sun this morning... I might call some in.
