The exhaust valve on my rr8 is supposed to open aa@ 4000rpm. Any way to check this on a stationary bike? On the move, I can hear the tone change but in neutral nothing happens at 4000. Old age memory loss
I think the only way is to run it on a paddock stand in first, obviously would not recommend this however
As above, on a paddock stand. I'd have no issues with this as long as it's stable. Short of having a rolling road to hand it's the only way to check such things, like a quick shifter. Just don't go oiling the chain with it running on a paddock stand
The change in tone will probably be a good indication that it’s opening, personally I would disconnect the cable and forget about it.
So am I right in thinking it does npt open if the bike is standing and just reving the engine? I ran it with the cable detached (after the silencer was renovated) but honestly the noise was too much and overpowering. I like to sound of the front end: engine, gear whine & gear changes. So I have reconnected it!
well, I tried it on the paddock stand, neutral, side stand up. Ignition on, the motor moved slightly to take up the cable slack. Engine on, revs up to 4 k: nothing. I selected 1st gear, then chickend out above 2k rpm! However riding the bike, I noticed the exhaust note change only in 6th gear and as expected there was some hysterisis designed into the operation. Kind of makes sense since in lower gears, you can shoot past the 4k threshold very oftern and quickly and the servo motor does not yoyo open/ close.
understood. I'll challenge my degraded hearing when I next go out. BTW I am talking about 2008 bike (just in case)
