polish your helmet

    spent this afternoon polishing my helmet..........did anybody else get a chance to polish there helmet.......sometimes i will polish my helmet at work.........but today it was polished at the kitchen table...........my wife even gave me a hand which saved me some arm work....

    I used a cheese cloth on mine!

    i used a microfibre cloth......but i keep a sock or toilet roll to catch the drips and overspill........

    i got the detailer at work to do mine....sad i know, but god it smelt good!!

    My helmet's matt so no amount of polishing is going to put a shine on it and trust me I've tried.

    That's the problem with being a lapsed catholic, I suppose.

    I clean off the flys with a brillo pad, its mat finish now. I put a little polish in the cracks to keep the water out.

    I've got three years of insect road kill on my jacket, does that count? My helmet gets a little heavy if I don't clean it every other year.

    My wife laugh's when I come home and hang up the leathers without cleaning them and spend the next hour getting the flys off the bike?

    I polish mine after every session, its good to know that its ready for the next go straight away.

    just wondering as well..............what do people do when there helmet starts to smell...................my wife refused to give me a kiss on my helmet last time before i went for a ride.........she said it smelled of the last ride i had..............


    but on a serious note any recommendations for interior cleaner for helmet...............

    Arai do a fantastic inner cleaner, but most folk just use febreeze!

    That's Smegma build up that is, Bry. You can get an ointment for that but you must be careful. You do have to rub it in quite hard but stop before it comes out of the visor.
