So my blade only has about 2200 on the clock. Anyone else had issues with the paint on the tank! I have the HRC tank pad but there are three patches of dull paint around the sides of the tank pad. This being my first Honda I was not expecting this to happen as all my other bikes I've Owed in the past R1,R6 zx10 etc etc have never had any issues with paint. I've tried polishing waxing compounds etc etc but nothing seems to sort the issue out. It's gonna have to be a moan to Honda I think! As I like to keep my bike looking as good as possible and this really let's it down. Anyone else had problems?
I get the same on mine and its 09, use some of this G10 Finishing Compound | farecla then use some Meguiars wax to protect it after the marks are removed.
As Phantom says, G10 is great stuff for sorting blemishes on dark colours, typically you can get it from motor factors that sell refininishing products. It not a polish but a real fine compound (a bit like T-Cut) designed specifically for the latter. Just be aware of the cloth you apply it to, make sure its real soft and wont add more scratches
use a slow speed buff and water and it will remove deeper scores but the high quality wax is needed to protect the tank or send it to the paint shop for an extra coat of lacquer, something that bike makers seem to skimp on these days.

Had someone recently complain about the same thing on a new VFR1200. After much moaning Honda agreed to pay for some venture shield so he said.
All Honda paint is shyte nowadays, tiz a cross we must bare till we can afford a S1000RR, Panigale, RS4RR, F4RR etc etc
The paint Finnish on my 2011 Blade is also crap. Can't believe how thin the paint is!! Thought Ducati build quality was not supposed to be great, but the paint Finnish on Ducatis is far superior to Honda.
I would disagree, the plastics on mine were far superior to the blade but the paint was as bad.the tank was very thinly lacquered and needed buffed/waxed constantly. I also found that on the underside of the rear seat air ducts had a poor finish and white undercoat showing.ducati sent a replacement and it was the exact same.went to the dealer and they were all like that so ducati said that's just the way it is, live with it.
Its a real shame that Honda dont seem to have the values they had before when it comes to standard of finish and quality. TBH its the main reason i stayed with Honda after 15yrs on my previous blade and im very disappointed! cant say the same loyalty will exist next time round as a good motor dont make the whole bike!
My RR4 suffered the same problem, apparently it's the ''Euro spec.'' paint (meaning water based). I got a new tank cover from Honda to replace it under warranty. Only seems to affect certain colours. I also got a second hand one off eBay to use instead. Same has happened to my RR8 but Honda will not replace it. Got a spare to use off IoMtt (thanks mate, looks ok and feels good).
