If you don't want to know anything at all before the race don't read. Really, don't read this. Warned you. So no Lorenzo this weekend after a suspected collarbone break in free practice, Rossi looks quick and he's always liked assen - what chance a big upset for Pedrosa?
Don't think you can have a spoiler pre-race! Game on in the Championship. I did say to a mate after Catalunya that I really fancied VR or CC to get a win at Assen. Reckon that's a step closer now. The crash looked awful on the MotoGP vid (free on motogp.com, with registration/login)
oh that blows things wide open this weekend and for the championship!! must be bad, as loads have raced with a broken collar bones.... VR in MCN this week saying how up beat he is going into this weekend, be good to see him get his mojo working again.
As someone pointed out, the next 2 races (Sachsenring and Laguna) are left-handers so not conducive to having a broken left collarbone. Not sure if JL was down for the test in Argentina in a week or two, but that'll be out the window now.
Can watch it here for free!! EDIT ooops didnt realise spoiler in the link!! dear god, what have i done EDIT BBC Sport - MotoGP: Jorge Lorenzo breaks collarbone in high-speed crash bbc aint all bad. crash looks pretty heavy.
Obviously a quick healer! From BBC Sport Jorge Lorenzo is now on his way back to Assen less than 12 hours after completing surgery on a broken collarbone in Barcelona. The Spaniard suffered the injury in a dramatic crash on Thursday. The team are still saying they don't expect him to ride but you have wonder the reasoning behind rushing surgery if he isn't going to try to. Dani Pedrosa currently leads Lorenzo by seven points in the championship, but could extend that to 32 points if the reigning world champion doesn't race. Lorenzo will hold a media debrief at 1700 BST, so we will know more then.
Reckon he'll do one of 4 things: Not bother trying to race, just be there and psych out the other racers Try to pass the medical, but fail (unlikely) Pass the medical, start in his qualified pos of 12th and try and make a race of it but don't push, just collect a few points to help in the Championship. Pass the medical, use (i.e seal) his 2 remaining engines, start from pitlane on his 7th engine, do a lap and come back in, thus benefitting from a total of 7 engines over the course of the season without penalty. My money will be on #3 but if it's raining tomorrow then #4.
Well having just seen qualifying, I'd love to say something but I can't change the thread title to definite spoiler.
if its wet he'll race as it'll slow the pace / pain down and he will just go on damage limitation.... could be spills and he could actually make points up on dani if he binned it.
Yeah could go the other way - dry and he breaks into the 7th engine and calls it a day; wet and he aims for points, as you say. It's spiced the race up a bit, anyway!
I reckon Jorge will bring in a doppelgänger for the physical. How about Shia Lebeouf if he's not off filming Transformers 12.
About time Assen came into line with the rest of MotoGP and run their damn race on a SUNDAY, I always forget and then find out who's won before the recorded program on Sunday lol what is it with the Dutch, change or drop the track Not blaming anyone on here btw, I went on Facebook earlier and there was the result everywhere just because the old guy won lol
I actually like the fact it's on Saturday!?! Don't have to wait all weekend for it ... Good when you go too, as you can wake up Sunday and head home. Is bloody annoying when you forget though
