Maybe a bit of a stupid question but is fitting a power commander the best way to sort the huge flat spot at 4k and make low revs alot smoother?? Cheers
It will help, am guessing your running a third party exhaust? Pcv and full map is best way to go but 75% of the time just a pcv with the best matched map will sort
No stock exhaust with the flap mod was thinking about a new exhaust but worried it will get a lot worse???
Also agree PCV will fix fueling issues even with a base map from Dynojet. Gets ride of the nasty 4k flat spot for sure
Thanks for the info best get and order, is it worth getting the pc III usb as cheap or spend the extra and get the pc v
I'm running the standard can (valve disabled) with PCV. Also using the generic base map. Can't say I noticed the flat spot in the first place but the bike is certainly smoother. Not that it matters, my commute used to return 41mpg now it is 45mpg. Maybe in the first instance you might try disabling the O2 sensor, you will need an eliminator to stop the dash warning, this can really help if you are suffering from surging at low speed and constant throttle.
The New Power Commander V is loaded with tons of new features. Below you will find some Power Commander V features. Reduced size from PCIIIusb (less than half of the size of PCIII)USB powered from computer (9 volt adapter is no longer needed for programming)2 position map switching function built in (map switch not included)Gear input (allows for map adjustment based on gear and speed)Analog input (allows user to install any 0-5 volt sensor and build an adjustment table based on its input such as boost or temperature)With gear position input connected the PCV is capable of allowing each cylinder to be mapped individually and for each gear (for example: on a 4 cylinder bike with a six speed transmission there could be up to 24 separate fuel tables).Unit has a -100/+250% fuel change range (up from -100/+100%). This allows more adjustment range for 8 injector sportbikes10 throttle position columns (up from 9 on PCIIIusb)Enhanced “accel pump” utility (increased adjustment and sensitivity ranges)
Arthurbikemad knows this stuff well and worth having a chat with him he's fitting them all the time to bikes
So makes sense to get the pcv then, I only asked as there is a used pc III with ign mod and quick shifter for £300!! which is what I do want to fit, as if I go for the pcv it will cost me over £700 Cheers
Yes but then you can fit autotune module with PCV and also be able to fit downblipper module etc in future
Totally agree with slick about the O2 eliminator first this cured my lumpy low rev problem in town traffic, go for the PCV and get the 16-034 version as will have a wider audience when you come to sell as fit more bikes
