Right.......I've had enough of my RR4's lumpy tickover. It's got a Yoshi RS-5 on it and when it's warmed up it ticks over like a sodding dump truck. I'm guessing that a power commander might sort this out. Questions....... Which one do I get? How easy to fit? Do I need to get it set up or does it come with pre-installed fueling maps? What is a fueling map?
Hi, lumpy tick over could be a number of things, bad plugs, dirty air filters throttle bodies out of sync etc. Is your tick over too low? you could try speeding it up a little. Adjuster by left knee slightly behind fairing (as you sit on the bike). I would get a power commander anyway, they really help the fuelling full stop. You say Yoshi RS-5, is that slip-on or full system? If it's a full system you definitely need a Power commander in my opinion. As for which one, visit dynojets website and see which one fit's your needs. I have a PC3 fitted works a treat, simple enough to use, even for me. Fitting is pretty simple, takes about 30-45 mins , just a bit of bodywork removal, a few connectors and routing of wires, nothing major. A map will need to be loaded(I believe They come with a base map i.e. for a standard bike) All maps available from the Dynojet website, you just choose one that closest matches the modifications to your bike. Or you could get a custom map done at your local dyno place (can be quite expensive). The fuelling map just adds or lessens fuel being injected in to the cylinders. Maps are sent to the power commander via software(and a usb lead) installed on you laptop or pc, software can come on disc with power commander or can be downloaded from the website. I think that the Power commander3 is discontinued(finding a new one might be hard), but you could get a used one, I picked mine up on Ebay for £54 including postage. I'm not an expert but I hope this helps. I'm sure if I have anything majorly wrong, someone will put me right.
Personally I'd get one anyway, I would say pound for pound , best mod I ever done. Transformed my bike.
