Probably been asked a million times, but is it worth changing RR6 r-sprocket to +44

    Guys,

apologies if its been asked a million times before. Did a few searches but nothing really concrete came up. Was thinking to change the rear sprocket to a 44 tooth (+2) and add a Healtech speed healer for this summer.. Any good / bad point to share?

I have an 05 and upgraded from a 40 - 42 and its perfect as brought it to life, I think 44 would be too much but its a slightly different engine so hard too say

    Sorry not much help lol

Dropped one tooth on an RR5, added some zip, plus it also made the revs in town better. It used to be high revs in first or slugging in second with no pickup, not anymore.

Done this or similar on many bikes and it always turned out great. I like the feeling that the torque/power is "easier to get at". Some complain that it makes the bike rev too high for any given condition, but I don't agree - bikes (esp. IL$ sports bikes) should be used in their optimum rev range whenever possible IMO.
However...I just didn't feel the need on my RR6 (but did on RR8, RR2, etc).
I think that was because the RR6 is not lacking in low rev grunt as much as the other models (in my mind/imagination anyway).
Bottom line is this mod is cheap and easy to reverse anyway. +2 rear or -1 front is a good place to start (not too extreme).

P.S. I like your bike and want to buy it :)

I have +2 rear and add -1 front for track days, but you could use that set up on roads too, gives loads more pull, mpg will drop, so for road use +2 is good

I've never bothered with a Speedo Healer - that 5% over-read and the stock speedo error (another 7%) help keep me below the speed limit :)
Try the sprocket first, then if you like it, add a speedo healer.

P.S. I take it this means you don't want to sell the bike ;)

resurrecting an old thread but I've finally ordered the +2 rear sprocket (44 teeth) last week. Will post an update next week! heading for my first track day with the Carbon beast a week Tuesday so thought this should make it a little more "fun"

It will feel better, I use -1 front and +2 rear and you get loads more poke :)
You will loose a little mpg due to higher revs, but that's only important if you are touring ;)

I do yes, but only because I do more track miles than road these days, if it was mostly road I would keep standard or just do one sprocket personally :)
